Ilaix Moriba set to discuss contract extension terms with Barcelona
Barcelona will meet with emerging talent Ilaix Moriba next week to discuss an emergency contract renewal.
With 14
La Ligaappearances and 18 total for Ronald Koeman's team in 2020/21, the 18-year-old had a strong first season.
Despite establishing himself as a first-team player, his contract issue has fueled transfer speculation in the last week.
The Spanish U17 international's deal with the Blaugrana expires in 2022, and
Manchester City
and
Manchester United
are both said to be interested in signing him.
As per
Marca, Moriba, his agent, and his father will meet with the club before the end of June to discuss the situation.
Moriba's current wage demands are said to be higher than Barcelona's compensation structure for his age category, despite the Catalans offering a better three-year contract.
However, because the 18-year-old might sign a pre-contract with a non-Spanish team as early as January 2022, Koeman and the board may have difficulty persuading him to remain at the club.
