Milan could struggle to make Tomori’s deal permanent

Although both the player and the club are eager to make the loan deal permanent, failing in securing a Champions League spot might force the Rossoneri to abandon their €30 million option to make Tomori’s deal permanent.

During the meetings held between Tomori’s representatives and Milan’s board, technical director Paolo Maldini and sporting director Frederic Massara, Milan officials have explained that they want to keep Tomori but the fee is expensive.

The Italian giants likely try to negotiate with Chelsea for a discount on the English defender’s deal, which is unlikely to be granted. Hence, this leaves Milan hoping for a Champions League spot at the end of the season.

Currently fifth in the Serie A table, Milan are level on points with Napoli and Juventus, who are third and fourth respectively with Atalanta and Lazio also in the race for the remaining Champions League spots.
