Real Madrid miss out on €15m

The Blancos have missed out on a considerable amount of cash by playing their last two games behind closed doors.

Football clubs across Europe are suffering from the pandemic’s economic effects. The elite clubs’ financial losses become more evident as they reach the final stages of the season. According to

Marca

,

Real Madrid

have missed out on €15m in four days by playing their matches against

Liverpool

and

Barcelona

behind closed doors. The Blancos’ match against Liverpool would have brought in €10m at the box office if it was played under normal circumstances. The club’s match against their arch-rivals Barcelona would have been less profitable as the percentage of season ticket holders would be higher but it still would have brought in about €5m. After their match against Barcelona on Saturday, Zinedine Zidane’s side will prepare themselves to meet Liverpool in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday.
