Xabi Alonso extends his contract with Real Sociedad B
Alonso intends to stay on the current team for another year.
coach Xabi Alonso has extended his contract with the club until 2022.
Sky Germany reported this week that Borussia Monchengladbach were monitoring Xabi Alonso's situation and that while current manager Marco Rose is expected to take over at Dortmund in the summer, Monchengladbach are looking for a new manager. However, Sociedad have announced that they have reached an agreement with Xabi Alonso and that the Spanish coach will lead Real Sociedad B for another year.
"Real Sociedad and Xabi Alonso have reached an agreement to renew the Real Sociedad B coach's contract until June 30, 2022," a Real Sociedad statement read on Friday.
"Xabi Alonso has been excited about 'continuing to grow in the project' and comforted by 'helping in the last push of Zubieta's formation'.
"With the participation in the Second B Pro achieved, Alonso has 'more goals and ambitions this season that will make us challenge ourselves."
