Manchester United set to sign Pedro Goncalves instead of Jadon Sancho

The Red Devils look forward to add a right-sided attacker to their side in the upcoming transfer season as they weigh down their option of whether to sign Sancho or Gonclaves.

According to the

Daily Telegraph

,

Manchester United

are ready to shift their attention to

Sporting CP

’s

Pedro Goncalves

after failing to sign

Borussia Dortmund

’s

Jadon Sancho

due to the last transfer deadline.

Though the Red Devils could still approach the Englishman in the upcoming transfer season, the demand for Sancho would very likely put them at a great war for the player.

On the other hand, Goncalves has been having a successful run with his Portuguese club scoring 15 goals and giving 3 assists in his 21 appearances.

The 22-year-old is currently playing in a more central role on the pitch but he could still play on other areas considering that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad is looking for a right-sided striker.

Goncalves’ buyout clause is reported to be £51.7m, but Man-Utd hope they can convince the Primeira Liga leaders to lower the fee.

As the

Premier League

side plan to approach Goncalves before the start of the 2021-22 campaign, Solskjaer also hopes to sign a new centre-back in case the Boca Juniors linked player,

Edinson Cavani

, decides to join the Argentine club.

Recent reports

suggest that Man-Utd have dropped their interest in

Harry Kane

and wish to invest in Dortmund’s

Erling Haaland

.
