Haaland on defeating Sevilla and his incident with Bono
The Norwegian awarded Dortmund a brace against Sevilla to qualify them to the Champions League last 8.
star,
Erling Haaland, talked about their Tuesday night qualification to the Champions League last 8 after shattering
Sevilla’s dream of making it to the next round.
Sevilla, who won last season’s Europa League title, lost their first game 3-2 and later were faced with a 2-2 draw in Germany, giving the
Bundesligaside a 5-4 advantage.
Despite their efforts to defeat Dortmund, the
La Ligaside’s attempts to score were eventually thwarted by Haaland’s brace.
Haaland’s second goal, which came through a penalty, was first saved by
Bonobut after reviewing the shot the referee asked the 20-year-old to re-take the penalty.
Sevilla later scored two goals through
Youssef En-Nesyri, but still they failed to make it to the next round.
As carried by
Diario AS, Haaland talked about missing his first attempt at the penalty, saying:
“I missed and Bono laughed. So I shot again and he was no longer laughing. When he shouted at me after the first penalty, I thought ‘I better score another goal’ and that’s what happened, so great. That’s normal in this world. I have no idea what I yelled at him, I said the same thing he said to me. I don’t know what it meant.”
