Klopp: "Plenty of people have written us off, that's fine”

Liverpool have further closed their gap with the top four following their win over Sheffield United on Sunday.

The

Liverpool

boss

Jurgen Klopp

doesn’t care about the critics minimizing his side’s prospects and is confident the Reds are able to turn things around.

Liverpool’s Sunday victory has seen them sixth on the

Premier League

table near the top four spots for the Champions League.

This was about us showing we’re still there. We play Chelsea on Thursday, we have to show it again,

" Klopp told

Sky Sports

.

"

We have to win football games, we know that. There’s no way into the Champions League without results. Tonight we got it, we keep going.

"Plenty of people have written us off. That's fine. With all the problems we have had we're still around the exciting places."

Curtis Jones

, who was later praised by Klopp, scored the opener for the Reds.

He is a top player, that’s why he’s playing. He has to be involved more in goalscoring situations, like everywhere there is space for improvement

," Klopp added.

"

The plan was to keep going and do the same stuff again. When we could play like we wanted to play, they couldn’t deal with us.

“Sheffield United have lost a lot but all by the smallest margin. It’s clear these games stay exciting until the very end. We could have scored three in the first half. What we created was very good. The finishing was good enough for today, but we can improve."

Liverpool’s hopes for winning a Champions League spot have been increased as the top five did not do so well on the weekend.

Leicester City

and

West ham

suffered defeats, while

Manchester United

and

Chelsea

drew their clash.

Should Klopp’s side vanquish Chelsea on Thursday, they will be in the top four.
