Joe Newell benched as Hibernian face Rangers
Hibernian midfielder is out of action as his side struggles to bounce back following their Betfred Cup disappointment with a clash against Rangers.
Joe Newell
was rested in
Hibernian’s last two matches, including their loss to
St Johnstone, due to a groin injury.
Hibernian boss
Jack Ross
is missing Kyle Magennis to a hamstring and Sean Mackie to a thigh injury as they prepare to face
Rangers.
Rangers’ attacking midfielder Kemar Roofe will most probably play on Wednesday after Steven Gerrard stated that the
Ross Countymatch was too early for the 28-year-old.
Roofe was benched in the thumping 5-0 victory over Ross County and was not played as he has only had one training session following his return from a thigh injury. However, he is now recovered and available to get back to action.
Scott Arfield, who is dealing with an ankle injury, will return to action in February which means the only two players still out due to injuries will be George Edmundson and Nikola Katic.
