De Zerbi is "enjoying" Sassuolo career

Sassuolo coach, Roberto De Zerbi is feeling depressed by Sassuolo's unskilled lead to Lazio and will not "consider" moving for a bigger club.

Thanks to Ciccio Caputo, the

Sassuolo

squad had a solid start and took the lead in six minutes, but Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile, both of whom have fallen from their form recently, changed the result.

“Lazio are a very strong team. We had a few chances to score more goals in the first half, we didn’t take them, and then suffered with their physicality. For example, their equaliser was a header on a set play,”

De Zerbi

announced.

“We amassed 30 points in the first half of the season, lost five games only to those teams who are above us in the table. So we’ve done well, could’ve done better, but considering all the problems we had, we are on track.”

Sassuolo

emerged fighting at the Stadio Olimpico and were remarkable in the first 20 minutes, but then slipped.

“The collective is a combination of various individual players and their characteristics. I don’t want to look for excuses, but the truth is that we had a lot of injuries to players in attack who make the difference.

“When Domenico Berardi, Jeremie Boga and Francesco Caputo are out for weeks at a time or not fully fit, that will affect the team performance.”

De Zerbi

was questioned that which of the Scudetto challengers he would like to struggle for, but changed the topic.

“I wouldn’t answer that even if I could, as my players could then say they’d prefer to work with another coach and that’s fair enough! It’s disrespectful.

“I won’t take leaving into consideration, at least not yet, and it also depends on how long the club wants me around. I honestly enjoy working at Sassuolo."
