Cagliari sign a new deal with Di Francesco despite consecutive defeats
Giulini confirmed Di Francesco’s contract extension.

, revealed that despite their consecutive defeats the Serie A club has offered
Eusebio Di Francesco
a new contract extension. With only 14 points out of 19 matches Cagliari currently sit 18th in the table.
“It’s certainly making me angry, because 14 points in the first half of the season is unacceptable,”
Giulini told
Sky Sport Italia.
“We are slowly trying to find a new system with
Alfred Duncanand
Radja Nainggolan, but there is so much psychological pressure on the team that it becomes difficult when they play with that tension.”
“Many players are unaccustomed to this type of a season, so it’s new for them too, but we have an entire half a season and the quality required to emerge from this situation.”
Later revealing Di Francesco’s contract extension, he added:
“We renewed Di Francesco’s contract this week to prove how much we believe in him. We kept it quiet and hoped to announce it with some points today, but the contract renewal still brings more solidity to the coach.”
“The team is in his grasp, they shouldn’t let their heads drop, they need to keep going and have belief in themselves.”
