Heath wasn’t able to play against Chelsea due to an injury

Tobin Heath missed the game against Chelsea due to injury and watched her team lose 2-1.

Manchester United

winger

Tobin Heath

was unavailable for Sunday’s 2-1 defeat against

Chelsea

due to injury.

She had preferred to stay with the Red Devils than traveling to the United States for a training camp and two friendlies with the

USNWT

against Colombia on January 18 and January 22.

"Tobin got injured in the week and we wanted to give her as much time as possible to try and be involved,” Manchester United head coach

Casey Stoney

said.

"Unfortunately, she woke up this morning and she wasn't right, so it wasn't right to play her."

The Red Devils are now second in the

WSL

table.

Pernille Harder helped her team to take the lead after half an hour as she scored the opener. Lauren James scored the equalizer in the 61st minute but then Fran Kirby was able to score the second goal four minutes later by latching onto a long ball forward from goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger and putting it in the back of the net.

"If we're going to press high, we have to be able to defend a long ball," Stoney said, reflecting on that goal.

"For me, a goalkeeper should never get an assist. That tells you that you haven't defended the situation very well. We have to head it, we have to clear it, we have to deal with it - we don't.

"I'm not going to single anyone out because I think my defense, especially my center-backs, have been outstanding in the first half of the season, but you have to stay switched on all the time."
