Gerrard: ‘I'm pleased for Glen’

Steven Gerrard was delighted to see Kamara scoring a goal in the game against St Johnstone and believes he deserves all the credit for his effort.

Rangers

manager

Steven Gerrard

was pleased when

Glen Kamara

showed a more attacking side to his game against

St Johnstone

as he scored one goal.

It was not his first goal as the Finnish international also scored a goal in the 3-3 Europa League draw against Benfica last month.

Gerrard believes Kamara deserves all the credit for his effort and improvement.

"Normally Glen Kamara tries to check back and pass that but he wiped his nose and finished it away,” Gerrard said.

“I'm pleased for Glen because he could have felt sorry for himself after the weekend but I thought he was outstanding all night.

“I can't take the credit for someone making a fantastic run and finishing a goal like that. I can encourage midfielders to join in, of course, and we can give them a platform to do it.

“But they have to carry it out, so Glen deserves all the credit for that. But he's just a fabulous player.

"He's clever and he can do it. He can get goals, he can get assists.

"He had an effort that hit the roof of the net just before. What we do is give them license to go express themselves so it's very pleasing to see."
