Pagliuca also gave his opinion about

goalkeepers and their performances.

"[Alex] Meret is a complete goalkeeper who had some highs and lows last season,” Pagliuca said.

“It’s not easy to play and alternate with [David] Ospina, he is the starter of Colombia national team. It’s not an easy situation. If Meret had more space in league games, he could make better performances. He remains a valid keeper.”

“He is 21 and has almost 200 Serie A games, it’s incredible, I believe he is the best in Serie A,” he said.

“He has different qualities compared to [Gigi] Buffon, he is a complete keeper, he is enormous. I saw him when the national team played in Bologna, I went to visit my ex Sampdoria teammates. I saw him and he was huge, his hands are three times bigger than mine. He is the classic modern goalkeeper.

“Wojciech Szczesny is doing well, I don’t remember many mistakes, I like him a lot,” Pagliuca added.

behind you, but he is serene, he used to make some mistakes at Arsenal but now at Juventus he is very consistent.

“Italy have a great generation of goalkeepers, don’t forget [Alessio] Cragno, [Mattia] Perin, [Marco] Sportiello. There are very good keepers. We finally see them playing in Italy and not abroad.”
