Parma Top Scorers of All Time

Although Parma is not among the top Serie A clubs despite the fact that they have played majorly in Serie A since 1990, some top footballers like Gianfranco Zola and Hernan Crespo have played for them sometime during their careers. In this post, however, we are to Parma and their top scorers.

Who are Parma top scorers and how many goals have they scored for the club? By Parma top scorers we actually mean Parma top scorers of all time and we should tell you that the two footballers mentioned above - we mean Gianfranco Zola and Hernan Crespo - are not only among top Parma footballers but also among Parma top scorers of all time.

How many goals they have scored for Parma you’re going to find out in this post, but according to the

list of Parma records and statistics

, there are also other footballers on the list of Parma top scorers who are close to the above-mentioned ones considering the goals they have scored for the Yellow and Blues.

Parma and Their Top Scorers

Let’s see what other footballers populate the list of Parma top scorers of all time except for Gianfranco Zola and Hernan Crespo - indeed, according to the list of Parma records and statistics.

Hernan Crespo (94 Goals)

By far Parma’s top scorer of all time, Hernan Crespo is a 46-year-old retired Argentinian footballer who served

Parma

in two time periods during his career: Once from 1996 to 2000 and another time from 2010 to 2012 which was actually at the end of his career. He scored a total of 94 goals for Parma in these two time periods becoming Parma’s undisputable top scorer of all time with a wide margin of 16 goals from the Parma’s second top scorer, William Bronzoni, who scored 78 goals for Parma during his career.

Crespo also served other top European clubs like Chelsea and Inter Milan during his career, however, the number of goals he scored for Parma at the start of his career are almost two times higher than the number of goals he scored for other clubs he served during his career, indeed, except for Lazio. He scored a total of 80 goals in the first period that he served Parma while he only managed to score 45 and 25 goals for Inter Milan and Chelsea, respectively, during the times he served them.

Crespo scored all his 94 goals for Parma in the 201 appearances that he made for them. That actually gets him a goal-to-appearance ratio of 0.46 meaning that the top former Argentinian footballer scored almost one goal (exactly 0.92) in every two appearances that he made for the Yellow and Blues. He also won one Italian Super Cup in 1999, and one UEFA Cup and Italian Cup in 1998-99 season with Parma.

William Bronzoni (78 Goals)

Occupying the second position on the list of Parma top scorers of all time, William Bronzoni is a passed Italian footballer - he died at the age of 60 - who served Parma at the start of his career and actually more than any other club he served later in his career: 8 years between 1945 and 1953. This is as he served the other clubs during his career only for a year or two. And Bronzoni scored a total of 78 goals in the 201 appearances that he made for Parma. As you see, the number of appearances Bronzoni made for Parma was the same as Crespo’s but he scored less goals than him which means he gets a lower goal-to-appearance ratio (0.39), too. It should also be mentioned here that unlike Crespo, Bronzoni never won a trophy with Parma.

Alessandro Melli (73 Goals)

Only 5 goals behind the second position on the list of

Parma top scorers of all time

, Alessandro Melli is a 51-year-old retired Italian footballer who served Parma more than any other club during his career; actually for 11 years and in two time periods, namely from 1985 to 1994 and from 1995 to 1997, where he made a total of 294 appearances and scored 73 goals for Parma which gets him a goal-to-appearance ratio of 0.24 meaning that he scored almost one goal (exactly 0.96) in every 4 appearances that he made for Parma.

Considering that Melli was a forward, that’s not a very good record, if you ask us, however, that’s been enough to get the retired Italian footballer among Parma top scorers of all time. It should also be mentioned here that Melli won one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1992-93 season, one UEFA Super Cup in 1992 and one Italian Cup in 1991-92 season with Parma.

Gianfranco Zola (64 Goals)

Unlike other footballers on the list of Parma top scorers of all time already mentioned in this post who served Parma for a major part of their careers, Gianfranco Zola served Parma only for 3 seasons between 1993 and 1996, however, Parma is the second club Zola made the most number of appearances and scored the most number of goals for which means the 55-year-old retired Italian footballer was quite active with the club.

Zola scored a total of 64 goals in his 149 appearances for Parma which gets him a goal-to-appearance ratio of 0.42 meaning that he scored a little bit more than 2 goals (exactly 2.1) in every 5 appearances that he made for Parma. He also won two club trophies with the Yellow and Blues including a UEFA Cup in 1994-95 season and a European Super Cup in 1993.

Marco Di Vaio (57 Goals)

The first footballer on the list of Parma top scorers of all time to have served more than 10 clubs during his career, Marco Di Vaio is a 45-year-old retired Italian footballer who actually served 11 clubs during his career some of which being Juventus, Genoa,

As Monaco

, and of course, Parma. He never served a club more than 4 years and his total career actually lasted for 21 years - between 1993 and 2014. Parma is actually the second club among all the other clubs Di Vaio served during his career for whom the retired Italian footballer made the most number of appearances and scored the most number of goals. So, just like Zola, Di Vaio was also very active with Parma compared to the other clubs he served.

Di Vaio actually served Parma between 1999 and 2002 where the club competed in

Serie A

. He scored a total of 57 goals in his 124 appearances for Parma across all competitions which gets him a goal-to-appearance ratio of 0.45 meaning that the retired Italian footballer scored almost one goal (exactly 0.9) in every two appearances that he made for Parma. He also won an Italian Cup in 2001-02 season and an Italian Super Cup in 1999 with the same club.

Alberto Gilardino (56 Goals)

Only one goal behind Marco Di Vaio on the list of

Parma top scorers of all time

, Alberto Gilardino is a 39-year-old retired Italian footballer, who, like Marco Di Vaio, played for more than 10 clubs - actually 13 - during his career among which are

AC Milan

, Fiorentina, Genoa, and of course, Parma. Parma is actually the second club Gilardino scored the most number of goals for (56) and the third club he made the most number of appearances for (116) during his career.

As you see, Gilardino scored all his 56 goals for Parma in 116 appearances which gets him a goal-to-appearance ratio of 0.48 and means that the retired Italian forward scored almost one goal (exactly 0.96) in every two appearances that he made for the Yellow and Blues. Gialrdino managed to score 23 goals in each of 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons in his 34 and 38 appearances for Parma, respectively, which is quite good for a forward of his size, however, he never won a club trophy with them.

Enrico Chiesa (55 Goals)

Delving more into the story of

Parma and their top scorers

, we reach another retired Italian footballer who, just like the two previously-mentioned footballers, Marco Di Vaio and Alberto Gilardino, served more than 10 clubs during his career: Enrico Chiesa. He’s 50 years old by now and for him Parma was the club he scored the most number of goals for (55) and the second club for whom he made the most number of appearances (125) - the first was Sienna for whom he made 134 appearances during his career.

As you can see, Chiesa scored all his 55 goals for Parma in 155 appearances that he made for them which gets him a goal-to-appearance ratio of 0.35 meaning that the retired Italian footballer scored a little bit more than one goal (exactly 1.05) in every 3 appearances that he made for the Yellow and Blues. Unlike Gilardino who never won a club trophy with Parma, Chiesa won one Italian Cup and one UEFA Cup with them both in 1998-99 season where in the latter he actually became the competition’s top scorer with 8 goals, too.

Faustino Asprilla (43 Goals)

And here comes the second non-Italian footballer on the list of Parma top scorers of all time: Faustino Asprilla. He’s a 51-year-old retired footballer from Columbia who served Parma more than any other club during his career; actually for 5 years and in two time periods: Once from 1992 to 1996 and another time in 1998-99 season. So, there is no wonder that he also made the most number of appearances and scored the most number of goals for them during his career which is really so.

Asprilla scored a total of 43 goals for Parma in the 150 appearances that he made for them which gets him a goal-to-appearance ratio of 0.29 meaning that the retired Colombian forward and attacking midfielder scored a little bit more than one goal (exactly 1.16) in every 4 appearances that he made for Parma. That’s the lowest ratio among the

Parma top scorers

we have already introduced in this post.

The problem is not with the first period Asprilla served Parma since in that period he actually scored 40 goals in 130 appearances for Parma which translates to almost one goal in every 3 appearances. The problem is with the second period of Asprilla’s service to Parma where he only made 20 appearances and scored 3 goals for Parma across all competitions. However, it should also be noted here that Asprilla has won the most number of club trophies with Parma among Parma top scorers already introduced in this post: 5 trophies which include one Italian Cup in 1998-99 season, two UEFA Cup trophies in 1994-95 and 1998-99 seasons, one European Cup Winners' Cup in 1992-93 season, and one European Super Cup in 1993.

Paolo Erba (35 Goals)

The first passed footballer on the list of Parma top scorers of all time, Paolo Erba served five Italian clubs, namely Farmhouse,

Crotone

, Parma, Bari, and Taranto, during his 12-year career which lasted from 1951 to 1963. He never served a club more than a year or two, and Parma was actually the only club during his career that he served for three years; actually between 1954 and 1957 during which he made 85 appearances and scored 35 goals for them - a little bit more than 2 goals in every 5 appearances. Not much information is at hand about Erba’s honors except for the fact that he became Parma’s top scorer in 1956-57 season with 16 goals.

Marco Osio (35 Goals)

Having scored exactly the same number of goals for Parma as Paolo Erba’s, Marco Osio is a 55-year-old retired footballer who served 8 Italian clubs in different tiers during his career. Parma and Tornio are actually the clubs Osio served the most during his career with the former getting a share of 6 years from Osio’s years of service and the latter 5 years, however, the number of appearances Osio made for Parma are almost 5 times higher than those he made for Torino and the number of goals? Well, not even comparable: He scored 35 goals for Parma while he only scored one goal for Torino during his career.

And Osio scored all his 35 goals for Parma in the 209 appearances that he made for them which gets him a goal-to-appearance ratio of 0.16 meaning that the retired Italian midfielder scored almost one goal (exactly 0.96) in every six appearances that he made for Parma. He also won two club trophies with Parma including an Italian Cup in 1991-92 season and a European Cup Winners' Cup in 1992-93 season.

Lorenzo Minotti (35 Goals)

Also having scored 35 goals for Parma during his career like the two other previously mentioned footballers, Lorenzo Minotti is a 54-year-old retired Italian defender who served Parma for a major part of his career; actually for 9 years between 1987 and 1996. It is as Minotti played for other clubs he served during his career for a year or two. And during this time he actually scored 35 goals in the 354 appearances that he made for Parma.

Although Minotti’s goals for Parma equal those of Osio and Erba, the number of appearances he made for the Yellow and Blues are not comparable with the number of appearances the two other above-mentioned footballers made for them: 354 vs 85 and 209 which naturally gets him a much lower goal-to-appearance ratio; actually 0.09 which means he almost scored 1 goal in every 10 appearances for Parma that considering his defensive position, that’s also natural.

It might be interesting for you to know that Minotti only scored 5 goals for the 5 other clubs he served during his career - on average one goal for each. Just compare to the 35 goals he scored for Parma. And just like Faustino Asprilla, Minotti is also one of the highly-decorated footballers among Parma top scorers: He won 4 club trophies with Parma which include one Italian Cup in 1991-92 season, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1992-93 season, one UEFA Super Cup in 1993, and one UEFA Cup in 1994-95 season.

Emanuele Calaio (32 Goals)

A recently-retired footballer among

Parma top scorers of all time

- he retired in 2019, Emanuele Calaio is a 39-year-old Italian forward who served around 9 Italian clubs in different tiers with Parma being the club he actually served at the end of his career and for 3 years. He actually scored 32 goals in his 79 appearances for Parma which means he exactly scored 2 goals in every 5 appearances for the Italian club, however, he never won a club trophy with them.

And if we just want to be exact, we should say Calaio played for Parma for around 2 years because he was fined and banned from football in mid-2018 because of his involvement in forging a fake win for Parma against

Spezia

through an agreement for reduced effort from the loser team’s players to secure a promotion to Serie A for the Yellow and Blues in 2017-18 season. However, the ban period was later reduced for an increase on the fine’s amount and it was lifted in early 2019.
