The 29-year-old spent a total of 13 years at Bayern Munich, playing his first two years at the club’s youth academy and the reserves side. With a brief loan spell at Hoffenheim in 2011, Alaba returned to become the first-choice left-back of the German side. His impressive trophy cabinet includes 10 Bundesliga titles, 6 DFB-Pokal trophies, 5 German super cups, 2 FIFA Club World Cups, 2 UEFA Supercups and 2 Champions League titles. He was also a crucial part of Hansi Flick’s sextuple-winning side.

With La Decima-winning manager Carlo Ancelotti returning to the helm, the Austrian could look forward to working with his former Bayern Munich manager. David Alaba’s market value is estimated to be around €55 million, which shows how much of a good bargain it was for Real Madrid to sign him for free. The Austrian has put pen on paper and has signed a 5-year deal with the Spanish giants, which will expire in June 2026.

their very first Premier League trophy. The 33-year-old is still one of the most prolific center-forwards in world football.

He made a total of 391 appearances for City during his tenure that began back in 2011 and managed to score a massive 260 goals and provide 73 assists in the process. Even though some thought he was destined to succeed at Atletico Madrid after joining the Spanish club in 2006 from Independiente for €21 million, he went on to become a Manchester City legend after moving to the Premier League club for €40 million.

Now it seems that Aguero is ready for another challenge as he was not getting enough play time under Pep Guardiola, being pushed aside by the younger generation of footballers. The Argentine has signed a two-year deal with Barcelona until June 2023, moving to the Catalan club on a free transfer after his contract with Manchester City expired this summer.

Emerson

• Transfer: Barcelona - Tottenham

In an unbelievable turn of events, Emerson Royal left for Tottenham only weeks after joining Barcelona in the current transfer window. The Catalan club showed the utmost disrespect when it came to treating their new arrival, as the right-back knew from the very beginning that the club only wanted to make profit from his sale instead of having any plans on investing in their new prospect. Royal has joined the Premier League side for €25 million after arriving at Barcelona from Real Betis for a reported fee of €14 million.

The 22-year-old Brazilian right-back was quite impressive throughout the 2020-21 campaign and the season before that as he got to make a total of 79 appearances for Real Betis since joining the club in 2018. However, he did not get the chance to deliver any sort of performance after he was forced out of Barcelona after making only three appearances for the Catalonia-based club. He has not yet made his debut at Tottenham, but he is surely eager to set foot onto the pitch as Tottenham player after the international break.

Juan Foyth

• Transfer: Tottenham – Villarreal

With Bryan Gil joining Tottenham for €25 million, it was only natural that Tottenham would sell one of their own players to fund their new transfer. That is why Juan Foyth moved in the opposite direction to join

on a permanent transfer deal after spending last season on loan at the La Liga side. The 23-year-old has joined Villarreal on a 5-year contract for €15 million, which is not that higher than his actual transfer market value of €12 million.

Foyth joined Tottenham from Estudiantes for €13 million back in 2017 and went on to make only a handful of appearances every season, with the 2018-19 season being his most successful one. The center-back got to make a total of 32 appearances for the Premier League side, which led to him being dubbed a flop as he could not secure a position in the Starting XI.

Even though his spell at Tottenham was a total disaster for a player of his capacity, Foyth went on to finally realize his potential on loan at Villarreal last season as he made even more appearances during a single season with the Spaniards than he had made with Spurs throughout the years. That is why both the club and the player decided to make his move permanent and have him stay at Villarreal for years to come. We will have to wait and see if the young defender can repeat his impressive season this time around.

Rui Silva

• Transfer: Granada – Real Betis

27-year-old Portugese goalkeeper Rui Silva has joined Real Betis on a free transfer deal after spending less than four years with

since joining the club in 2017. When he joined Granada in the middle of the 2016-17 season, the club suffered relegation into Segunda Division. But the goalkeeper stayed with his club and managed to help them return to La Liga for the 2019-20 season. He made a total of 128 appearances for Granada, keeping 44 clean sheets and conceding 147 goals in the process.

Silva is originally a Nacional academy graduate, with whom he began his professional career in football back in 2013. The 1.91-meter-tall goalkeeper has signed a five-year contract with Real Betis, with his contract set to expire in June 2026.

Memphis Depay

• Transfer: Olimpique Lyon – Barcelona

striker Memphis Depay. The Dutch striker was one of the most prolific goal-scorers of Ligue 1 before his move to Barcelona. He managed to score a total of 22 goal in 40 appearances last season, providing 12 assists as well. With the ability to single-handedly affect the gameplay and the turn of events, Depay might prove to be quite an asset alongside Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi.

The 27-year-old is living the best of his days during his prime and is currently worth around €45 million. Signing such a crucial player on a free transfer is a true bargain, and Barcelona have outdone themselves in the La Liga summer 2021 transfer window with such smart signings.

The Dutchman has signed a two-year contract with the Catalans and can’t wait to don his very own Barcelona shirt. Jean-Clair Todibo

Barcelona signed him from Toulouse for €1 million in 2019, but the Frenchman did not get to have a permanent position in the club’s main squad. He only made a disappointing total of 5 appearances for Barcelona and later moved out on loan to clubs such as Schalke, Benfica and OGC Nice.

It was Nice in the end who decided to make his move permanent by paying the Spanish giants €8.5 million, which is almost €3.5 million less than the player’s actual market value. With Barcelona clearly offloading the French player to be able to sign better foreign players, we will have to wait and see if Todibo finally gets to settle down and find his place at a club or not.

Junior Firpo

• Transfer: Barcelona – Leeds

• Transfer fee: €15M

Amongst the Spanish La Liga transfers – 2021/2022, you can find Junior Firpo’s name, who is another one of Barcelona’s offloaded players. The left-back joined the Catalans from Real Betis for €20 million back in 2019. But he did not get the chance to prove himself throughout the years, making him one of the flops of the club instead. The 24-year-old defender made a total of 41 appearances in his three seasons at Barcelona, during which he managed to score two goals and provide three assists.

Now, he has embarked on a new journey at Leeds United, with whom he has signed a four-year deal that will expire in the summer of 2025. While his estimated market value is believed to be around €8 million, the Premier League club splashed the cash on their new player by almost double his market value to Barcelona, with the Spanish club retaining 20% of any future sales of the player.

Sergio Ramos

Having joined Los Blancos from Sevilla for €27 million back in 2003, Ramos went on to make a total of 671 appearances for Real Madrid, becoming one of the most prolific and highest-scoring center-backs in the world with 101 goals and 49 assists in the process.

Throughout his trophy-laden years at Madrid, the 35-year-old won 5 La Liga titles, 2 Copas del Rey, 4 Supercopas de Espana, 4 FIFA Club World Cups, 3 UEFA Supercups and 4 Champions League trophies, three of which came consecutively under Zinedine Zidane’s first era  from 2015 to 2018. He has now signed a two-year contract with PSG and is looking forward for more glory with the Parisians.

Carles Alena

• Transfer: Barcelona – Getafe

• Transfer fee: €5M

Carles Alena is next on the list of La Liga transfers 21/22. He finally got a new home after spending a couple of years in a void called Barcelona. The Spaniard joined the Catalans as a La Masia academy graduate. While he was dubbed as the next Xavi, Alena did not live up to the expectations and only made a total of 44 appearances throughout his stay at Barcelona.

With a not-so-amazing performance at his parent club, he moved out on loan and joined Real Betis and later Getafe. The 23-year-old has now made his stay at Getafe permanent by signing a five-year contract, which cost Getafe €5 million in the end. Such a transfer fee is quite a bargain as the Spaniard is believed to be worth around €15 million instead.

Rodrigo de Paul

• Transfer: Udinese – Atletico Madrid

Argentine central midfielder Rodrigo de Paul is one of the newest additions in La Liga summer 2021 transfer window. Of course it is not his first time playing in the Spanish first division. He in fact first moved to La Liga by joining Valencia from Racing Club for €6.5 million back in 2014. But after a disappointing spell at the club, he signed for Udinese in 2016. Now after five years, he is set to return to La Liga after his €35 million move to Atletico Madrid.

De Paul is immensely versatile and is able to play in a multitude of positions, which will help Simeone deploy him with much more freedom in mind. The 27-year-old made a total of 38 appearances last season, scoring 9 goals and providing 12 assists in the process.

Eric Garcia

• Transfer: Man City – Barcelona

With Lionel Messi having left his club of 21 years to join Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona are going to need every single star that they can get in order to boost their chances of winning the league while also recovering from the disastrous drops in shirt sales that will certainly hit them this season. That is why Ronald Koeman is definitely happy to have Eric Garcia in his roster after the youngster joined Barcelona from Manchester City on a free transfer.

The 20-year-old center-back is in fact a La Masia product and is no stranger to his former club. With his current transfer market value estimated at €20 million, it is only a matter of time before we get to see if his return to Barcelona was worth it. Garcia joined Manchester City’s Under-18 side from Barcelona’s youth team in 2017 and finally made his debut for the Cityzens a season later in the EFL Cup.

Lionel Messi

Even though Messi had agreed on a 50% wage cut, the club were still barred from signing a contract extension with the Argentine after La Liga ruled that Barcelona had already reached their weekly wages limit. Now, Lionel Messi has joined Paris Saint-Germain in one of the most historic free transfers of all time and people would have get used to seeing Sergio Ramos playing alongside Neymar and Messi instead of playing against them.

The 34-year-old joined Barcelona as a mere teenager back in the year 2000 and made his senior debut in 2005. Throughout the years and during his professional career at Barcelona, Messi managed to make a total of 778 appearances and score a mind-blowing 672 goals, while also providing a massive 305 assists in the process. The sheer amount of his goals and assists is enough to make anyone bow in respect, which is why the Argentine has won a record six Ballons d’Or throughout his career.

Raphel Varane

Real Madrid might have to rethink their transfer market strategies as they have now lost both of their main center-backs to their possible Champions League rivals. Both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, who got to create a solid brick wall at the back together, have left Real Madrid to join other clubs in Europe.

Bryan Gil

Beating last season’s reigning champions Manchester City only to lose to Pacos de Ferreira in the Conference League playoffs shows that Tottenham are still finding their feet with all their new signings and their new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. The Premier League club have splashed the cash on signing one of Sevilla’s more promising youngsters Bryan Gil.

Even though Gil did not get a chance to prove himself throughout the years he spent at Sevilla after rising up the ranks at the club’s youth side, he still managed to impress everyone with his performance during his loan spells at clubs such as CD Leganes and Eibar.

Having only made 21 appearances for Sevilla since 2018 and having scored 2 goals in the process, the 20-year-old winger and attacking midfielder has now joined Tottenham for €25 million to seek out a new challenge. He actually got to make his debut for Tottenham in the club’s humiliating 1-0 defeat against Pacos Ferreira, which even saw the youngster receive a yellow card from the referee.

Arnaut Danjuma

• Transfer: Bournemouth – Villarreal

• Transfer fee: €23M

Arnaut Danjuma is slowly rising to the top by joining bigger and better clubs each season. It was not much long ago when the youngster was playing for PSV U19 and was about to joined NEC Nijmegen on a free transfer deal in 2016. After making his professional debut for NEC Nijmegen and spending two seasons at the Dutch club, Danjuma joined Club Brugge for a little less than €3 million in 2018. The left-winger went on to make a total of 25 appearances for the Belgium-based club and score 6 goals while providing 4 assists in the process.

His impressive performance in Belgium earned him a move to England, where he joined Bournemouth for a little over €16 million. Even though the Dutchman got to make 14 appearances for Bournemouth, he could not stop his side from being relegated to the Championship, which is what forced Bournemouth to sell Danjuma in the first place.

Now, the 24-year-old winger has joined Villarreal on a 5-year deal for €23.5 million, which is well over his actual market value of €15 million. He is yet to make his debut at Villarreal, but he surely is excited to have joined one of the best teams in La Liga.

Rafa Mir

• Transfer: Wolves – Sevilla

It seems that the 24-year-old center-forward Rafa Mir has finally gotten his big break after signing for Sevilla on a six-year deal. Having risen up the ranks at Barcelona’s youth academy and having joined Valencia’s U19 side in 2012, Mir made his professional debut at Wolverhampton Wanderers after joining the club for €2 million back in 2018.

Of course the striker did not get to impress his manager at Wolverhampton, which is why he went on to spend several years on loan at clubs such as UD Las Palmas, Nottingham Forest and Huesca, shortly after his initial move to the Premier League side. It seems that Sevilla were paying special attention to the goal scorer during his loan spell at Huesca, which is why they have spent more than €16 million to bring the talented striker into their ranks.

Mir is actually quite a lethal striker for his level, having scored a total of 63 goals in 179 appearances throughout his career, which gets even more impressive if you add the 14 assists he has provided in the process as well.

Gonzalo Montiel

It seems that Sevilla are determined in completing their summer overhaul after letting go of so many players and signing many more in the 2021 summer transfer window. One of the most recent additions to Sevilla’s squad is Gonzalo Montiel, who has joined the La Liga side from River Plate for €11 million.

The 24-year-old right-back is one of the most exciting signings of the new season for Sevilla as he has the ability to become one of the club’s main players right from the start. Montiel began his journey as a professional football player after graduating from River Plate’s youth team in 2017.

He has already made more than 130 appearances throughout his career, having scored 6 goals and provided 14 assists in the process. Sevilla have actually signed the talented right-back with a discount as his current transfer market value is estimated to be around €17 million. Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui will certainly enjoy having Montiel in his roster as the right-back is quite versatile and is able to play as a center-back and a right midfielder as well.

Matheus Cunha

Saul Niguez

While initially there were speculations about Barcelona being interested in signing Saul from Atletico, it seems that Chelsea had their own secret plans all along. The Premier League club have signed one of the most effective midfielders around on loan for the time being. Of course there is an option to make this loan move permanent and it all depends on Saul’s will and performance in the 2021-22 season.

The 26-year-old Spaniard came to prominence having risen up the ranks at Atletico Madrid’s youth side. Chelsea have already spent big this summer by bringing back Romelu Lukaku from Inter and Saul will surely be a great addition to the squad as he can make the team tick like clockwork in the middle of the park.

The immensely versatile midfielder has already made more than 445 appearances throughout the years and has actually managed to score 55 goals and provide 22 assists in the process. We will have to wait and see how he will be implemented into the Chelsea squad alongside N’Golo Kante.

Saul’s trophy cabinet already includes a La Liga title, a Spanish Cup, a Super Cup, two Europa League titles and a UEFA Supercup, which is why he might be itching to get his hands on the famous Champions League trophy with Chelsea after the English club managed to win their second UCL trophy last season.

Eduardo Camavinga

Real Madrid looked serious to finally sign Kylian Mbappe and complete the prophecy after making several official offers to the Paris Saint-Germain board. However, the fairytale seems to be on hold for the time being as Los Blancos aim to sign the Frenchman for free in the winter. However, this impasse did not stop Real Madrid from signing another wonderkid for a transfer fee that could be regarded as a bargain nowadays.

The La Liga giants are proud to announce the signing of Eduardo Camavinga from Stade Rennais for a reported transfer fee of €31 million. Considering how Real Madrid have shifted their transfer policy from signing world-class individuals to signing future prospects, Camavinga will definitely be a great addition to Florentino Perez’s long-term plan. The 18-year-old central midfielder was linked with a move to Real Madrid even before turning 18, which motivated the French youngster to push even further during his appearances for Rennais.

He has already made more than 88 professional senior appearances, having played 35 league games last season in Ligue 1. We will have to wait and see if we would finally get to witness Camavinga alongside Mbappe and even possibly Haaland in the 2022-23 season.  

Antoine Griezmann

• Transfer: Barcelona – Atletico Madrid

There are numerous stories about club legends betraying their club to join their archrivals in historic moves that would be remembered for eternity. Even though Griezmann joining Barcelona from Atletico Madrid might not be one of the greatest betrayals of all time in football history, it was still a betrayal nonetheless. Atletico fans were quite baffled by how they were directly lied to by Griezmann himself when he claimed he had no intentions of leaving Atleti, only to sign for Barcelona a couple of months later. The French striker joined Barcelona for a mind-blowing fee of €120 million in 2019.

But, he has now returned to his former club after only spending three disappointing seasons with the Blaugrana. Griezmann made a total of 102 appearances for Barcelona during those three seasons and managed to score 35 goals and provide 17 assists in the process. These stats might look great on paper for other clubs, but considering how each of Barcelona’s previous front-three used to score more than 30 goals a season, Griezmann’s performance was a serious step down, especially since they had paid such a whopping price to sign the striker.
