AS Roma

Peruzzi made his debut in Serie A as the goalkeeper of Roma. On December 13, 1987, in the match against

, Peruzzi played one half. He kept a clean sheet that day and Roma won, 2-0. In the next season, as the reserve goalkeeper, he was mainly used in Coppa Italia fixtures. He capped 12 times in Serie A. In order to have more playtime, Peruzzi was loaned to Hellas Verona. He was the main goalkeeper there and had 29

appearances. After the return from the loan, Peruzzi's skills were developing and he seemed very promising, but he was accused of taking illegal substances and was banned for one year. Andrea Carnevale was another Roman player who was banned for the same reason. After that, he needed something big to revive. The big thing was, of course, Juventus.

Juventus

After missing one season, Peruzzi signed with Juventus as the substitute for Stefano Tacconi. In 1991-92, Peruzzi was Coppa Italia's keeper for Juventus, plus a few league caps, but soon he showed his true color. In 1992-93, he overtook Stefano Tacconi as the first goalkeeper. Juventus manager Giovanni Trapattoni was a big help for Peruzzi. Trapattoni was the coach when he transferred to Juventus after the doping issue. Trapattoni's trust in Peruzzi paid off and he was on his top performance. 1992-93 was the season that Juventus signed Gianluca Vialli, who overtook legendary Roberto Baggio.

After years of being behind Milan and Inter, 1994-95 was the spring for the Old Lady of Turin. Marcelo Lippi replaced Trapattoni in Juventus. Lippi's first season was phenomenal. Lippi broke the world's transfer record for Christian Vieri. Clarence Seedorf, Ivan Cordoba, and Angelo Peruzzi were other big transfers Lippi made in Inter. Angelo Peruzzi cost more than $17 million for Inter. Despite the good form of Peruzzi, Inter didn't have a good season. The 4th position on the Serie A standing table was not what Inter expected from Lippi. They had big players like Ronaldo, Baggio, Recoba, and Zanetti in their squad.

They lost the Coppa Italia final to Lazio. Biancocelesti was the Serie A champion, too. After only one season and 33 caps, Peruzzi was sold by Inter. Lazio

Peruzzi's spell in Inter was one year long and they decided to use their young goalkeeper Sebastien Frey. Inter sold Peruzzi to Lazio for $19.69 million, plus Marco Ballotta. At first, it seems like a good idea: relying on talent and earning money by selling Peruzzi. But at the end of the season, Inter was full of regrets. Especially after the humiliating 6-0 derby Della Madonnina, they found out that a top goalkeeper is necessary. For Peruzzi and Lazio, the season was much better.

In Serie A the champion was Roma. It is the last time a team other than the three Italian superpowers won the league. Fabio Capello's Roma had great players like Cafu, Walter Samuel, Francesco Totti, and Gabriel Batistuta. The second place was for Juventus under Carlo Ancelotti and in the third place it was Lazio. Serie A title defending Lazio failed to repeat the previous season's success. In January, Eriksson was sacked and replaced by Dino Zoff. Before the managerial changes, Lazio won the Supercoppa Italiana in an exciting battle against Inter that ended 4-3. It was Angelo Peruzzi's first title in Lazio.

Marcelo Lippi was Inter's manager at the time. Dino Zoff didn’t solve the problem in Lazio and Alberto Zaccheroni took his place. Zaccheroni's side did better overall but had some issues. One of the issues was the lack of adaptation of big stars like Gaizka, Mendieta, and Stefano Fiore. The other problem was trashed by cross city rivals in Derby della Capitale. Vincenzo Montella and Francesco Totti had a great night. On the contrary, Peruzzi didn’t stand a chance facing Romans that night. Former Lazio player, Roberto Mancini was the next manager. Mancini was Eriksson's assistant as his first post retirement job.

In 2002-03, Lazio finished 4th on the Serie A table. Mancini is a cup specialist, but his Lazio side was stopped in the semi-finals of both Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup. The 4th place in Serie A meant reaching the Champions League's qualification round. Lazio only lost four games, which was good for Peruzzi and Mancini. The losses were all by being one goal behind. Mancini's cup effect finally worked and Lazio won 2003-04 Coppa Italia.

Peruzzi won his last club career medal. In Champions League and Serie A, they were not good, instead. They lost 10 matches in the league. The Champions League results were worse, they had one victory and eliminated in group stages. Mancini went to Inter and it resulted in Lazio's awful season, finishing in 13th place. The 2005-06 season seemed much better when they finished 6th, but it later reverted to 16th due to the Calciopoli scandal involvement.

Peruzzi's international career started in 1990. Italy U21 team coach Cesare Maldini called his name for the European Under-21 Championship. Peruzzi's notable teammates in the tournament were Alessandro Costacurta and Paolo Di Canio. In the semi-finals, Yugoslavia, with loads of stars, defeated Peruzzi's side. Arrigo Sacchi was the first coach calling Peruzzi for the senior team.

He was the goalkeeper in the Euro 96 Qualification and the tournament itself. Peruzzi's alternative was Francesco Toldo.
