How will Spain line up at UEFA Euro 2020?

The 16th UEFA European Championship will be held soon. The Union of European Football Associations organizes the tournament every four years (UEFA). The soccer tournament was originally set to take place from June 12 to July 12, 2020. The tournament was postponed for a year because of the COVID-19 epidemic, and it will now begin on June 11 and end on July 11, 2021.

Nineteen of the twenty-four teams will return from the previous year's competition. Among them were

and Italy, both of which had flawless qualification campaigns (10 victories in 10 matches). For the 13th time in a row, the defending Euro champions Portugal, the defending World Champions France, and Germany have qualified.

Along with

, Poland, and Slovakia, Spain's men's national soccer team is in Group E. Their home matches will be held in Seville, with their squad base camp in Las Rozas de Madrid.

How will Spain line up at UEFA Euro 2020?

Spain usually has the conventional 4-3-3 formation. 

Luis Enrique's Spain plays a relatively simple style of football that follows Pep Guardiola's passing template, which Vicente Del Bosque adopted for

He did not debut until 15 November when he scored in a 7–0 defeat of Malta for the already qualified hosts, inside a minute of replacing Sergio Ramos; Dani Olmo also scored on his first cap in that game, the first time that two Spaniards were done so in exactly 30 years. Torres was included in Luis Enrique's 26-man squad for the finals. And this amazing athlete’s performance pushed him into our Spain Euro 2020 squad.

CB: Eric Garcia

Eric Garcia Martret is a Spanish professional footballer who plays center back for

in the Premier League and for the Spanish national team. On July 1, 2021, he will join the La Liga team Barcelona.

Garcia obtained his first senior call-up on August 20, 2020, for two UEFA Nations League matches against Germany and

, after represented Spain at the under-19 and under-21 levels.

On September 6, 2020, he made his senior international debut against Ukraine, replacing Sergio Ramos in the 61st minute as Spain won 4–0. Garcia was named to Luis Enrique's 26-man squad for

Spain Euro 2020

campaign on May 24, 2021.

LB: Jordi Alba

Alba competed for Spain in the 2008 UEFA European Under-19 Championship and in all four games at the 2009 Mediterranean Games, where the country earned the gold medal.

He was also a member of the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup squad in Egypt. Alba was included in Vicente del Bosque's Euro 2012 squad and appeared in every match as Spain won the tournament in

and Ukraine.

In the 2–0 quarter-final triumph over

, he provided the cross for Xabi Alonso to open the scoring. He scored the second goal in a 4–0 triumph over Italy after racing onto a feed from Xavi during a counter-attack.

Alba was named to Del Bosque's team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where he played three times as the reigning champions were eliminated in the group stage. He was also included in Julen Lopetegui's World Cup squad in Russia and Luis Enrique's 26-man squad for Spain Euro 2020 campaign.

RB: Marcos Llorente

Llorente made his debut for Spain's under-21 team on October 10, 2016, in Pontevedra, when he played the entire 5–0 home defeat over

in the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers.

In November 2020, he was called up to the senior squad for a friendly against the Netherlands as well as UEFA Nations League qualifications against Switzerland and Germany. He made his debut against his first opponent, Sergio Canales, for the final 18 minutes of the 1–1 tie in Amsterdam. we offered him a spot in the Spain squad for Euro 2021.

DM: Sergio Busquets

Sergio Busquets Burgos is a Spanish professional footballer who currently plays for Barcelona as a defensive midfielder. He is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders of all time and a deep-lying playmaker capable of guiding gameplay with short, calm deliveries.

Busquets was chosen by manager Vicente del Bosque for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, taking over the holding midfielder role that naturalized Brazilian Marcos Senna had previously filled during the UEFA Euro 2008 victory.

With the exception of the final 30 minutes of the 0–1 group-stage loss to Switzerland in Durban, he played every game and minute for the eventual world champions. Along with his teammate Puyol, he finished the competition with the third-highest pass success rate, completing 88 percent of his passes.

During the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, Busquets scored his first international goal in a 5–1 win over Macedonia on September 8, 2014. On the same tournament's 15 November, he scored his second goal in a 3–0 win over Belarus at Huelva.

On October 9, 2017, Busquets made his 100th appearance for Spain in a 1–0 away win against Israel in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Following that, he was picked to Julen Lopetegui's finals squad in Russia.

He was named to Luis Enrique's 26-man squad for Spain Euro 2020 campaign in May 2021. Busquets was selected captain of the Euro 2020 squad after Ramos was left out.

CM: Thiago Alcantara

Thiago Alcantara made his senior squad debut in a friendly against Italy on August 10, 2011, and his first competitive encounter was on September 6, 2011, in a 6–0 triumph over Liechtenstein in a Euro 2012 qualifying match.

He was forced to withdraw from Euro 2012 and the London 2012 Summer Olympics due to injuries. Thiago was re-called by manager Vicente del Bosque for the first time since his injury on October 2, 2015, with the team's spot in the tournament already secured, and played in their 1–0 UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying win away to Ukraine ten days later.

In a World Cup qualifier against Albania on October 6, 2017, he scored his first goal for his country in the 26th minute. Thiago placed a cross into the bottom corner from close range after Alvaro Odriozola fired in a cross from the right side of the box.

In May 2018, he was included to Spain's 26-man team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup warm-up matches in Russia. Thiago was included in the final 23-man roster for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Thiago played in two matches, one against Portugal and the other against Morocco. In May 2021, Thiago was included in the 26-man for Spain Euro 2020 list.

CM: Koke

Koke was a member of the Spain under-20 squad which reached the quarter-finals at the 2011 FIFA World Cup in Colombia. He missed in the last-16 penalty shootout against South Korea, but his squad advanced regardless. Koke was a member of the Spanish team that competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, appearing in all three games as the competition came to a close.

He also played for Spain's under-21s at the 2013 UEFA European Championship, where he was chosen to the team of the tournament after the squad overcame Italy 4–2 in the final in Jerusalem.

After a two-year absence from international service, Koke made his comeback on November 11, 2020, in a 1–1 friendly draw away to the Netherlands, in which he led his country for the first time. The following May, he was included in the 26-man squad for Spain Euro 2020. 

LW: Dani Olmo

Olmo was a member of the Spanish squad that competed in the 2015 European Under-17 Championship in Bulgaria; he scored in a penalty shootout as they were ousted by Germany in the quarter-finals, but his effort was saved by Will Huffer as Spain lost in a play-off for the title to England.

Tomislav Svetina, the director of Dinamo Zagreb, stated at the end of 2017 that the club was doing all possible to obtain citizenship for the adolescent. At the international level, Olmo expressed a desire to switch to Croatia. He did, however, make his debut for the Spanish under-21 team in October 2018.

Olmo was a member of the Spanish squad that won the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Italy and San Marino, appearing in four matches, assisting one goal, and scoring three goals, one of which came in the final, earning him Man of the Match honors.

Olmo earned his first senior squad call-up in November 2019, for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Malta and Romania, after Spain had already qualified for the tournament. He made his debut on November 15th, coming on as a 66th-minute substitute for Alvaro Morata and scoring three minutes later in a 7–0 home win over Malta.

Pau Torres, another rookie, also scored, marking the first time in 30 years that two Spaniards had scored in their first cap. On 24 May 2021, Olmo was included in Luis Enrique's 26-man for the

Spain Euro 2020

list.

RW: Ferran Torres

The nature of Luis Enrique's team makes it difficult to pick a crucial player upfront, but as much as Alvaro Morata may be leading the charge, it's Ferran Torres who has been causing the most damage recently.

The kid grabbed a hat-trick against Germany in November and his productivity for Man City, especially in the Champions League, marks him out as a potentially productive wing-forward at Spain Euro 2020 list.

His dexterity in movement, along with the precision of his shooting, provides him a strong chance to score the goals that Spain will require to make their possession count.

ST: Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Borja Morata Martin is a Spanish professional footballer who now plays as a striker for Juventus in Serie A on loan from Atlético Madrid in La Liga.

Morata was called up to manager Vicente del Bosque's senior squad on November 7, 2014, for matches against Belarus and Germany. On the 15th, he made his UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying debut against Belarus, replacing Isco for the final ten minutes of a 3–0 win at Huelva. On the same day, he scored his first senior international goal, the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Ukraine in Seville, in the same competition.

Morata started and scored a brace in a 3–0 group win against Turkey in Nice after being selected for the finals in France. In the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifications on September 2, 2017, he scored once after coming off the bench in the 77th minute to assist the hosts to overcome Italy 3–0.

After a dismal club season, Morata was left out of Spain's World Cup finals roster on May 21, 2018. He was named to Luis Enrique's 25-man squad for Spain Euro 2020 campaign on May 24, 2021.
