UEFA Europa League 2021 quarterfinal fixtures, lineups, live streams

Who’s excited for another round of beautiful European football? Who will go through to the semi-finals from amongst the eight teams competing in the last eight? Follow us below as we provide you with all the information you need on 2020/21 UEL quarter final matches.

While some of the best teams in Europe compete in the good old UEFA Champions League and we get to see the world’s most iconic footballers alongside the most exciting prospects and young star, playing an absolutely thrilling game for our enjoyment, there are also other teams that did not get the chance to qualify for a knockout round in the UCL and had to settle for a run at this season’s Europa League.

Even though some might prefer the Champions League to Europa League for obvious reasons, the latter still has that European night magic that we rarely get to see in any of the top-five leagues or any other leagues in the continent. The

UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final

is going to start with a bang as we got to see some of the most intense games of this season in the Round of 16, where the drama just couldn’t help itself from rising in each match.

Arsenal barely managed to go through and qualify for the Europa League 2021 quarter final draw as they lost 1-0 at home but won the game 3-2 on aggregate thanks to their crucial 3-1 away lead in the Round of 16.

Molde FK

were close to completing a comeback and making their nights as sweet as it could get, but they were halted in the previous round by Granada, who managed to score a vital away goal and go through to the next round despite losing the second leg 2-1.

Shakhtar Donetsk were utterly disappointed by their poor run of form against Roma, who showed no mercy after scoring three goals in the first leg and adding two goals in the second leg to ensure their qualification to the UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final with a 5-1 aggregate. Villarreal eased through with two comfortable wins against Dynamo Kyiv as they managed to score two goals in each leg and keep a clean sheet to ensure their clear victory.

Steven Gerrard’s

Rangers

, on the other hand, who had previously managed to earn so many accolades and praises for their impressive run of form in the Scottish Premiership and for winning the league quite early with a number of games in hand, did not get to repeat the same form in a European competition as they botched their chances of going through to the

UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final

by losing 2-0 at home despite having scored a crucial away goal in the first leg.

Just like Villarreal, Ajax too got to ease through to the quarterfinals with an easy win against BSC Young Boys, who just couldn’t handle the Dutch club’s class. Ajax managed to score three goals in the first leg and add another two goals in the return fixture to qualify for the 2020-21 Europa League quarter final fixtures with a 5-0 aggregate.

While all the matches were more or less equally intense, it was the meeting between

AC Milan

and Manchester United that was watched by millions around the world, as the two powerhouses in Europe went head to head in the Round of 16. With the first leg ending in a draw despite the plethora of chances created by both side, the two clubs met in Milan for the second leg as Manchester United emerged victorious over their rivals and broke the heart of Milan fans once again, just like their showdown in the 2006-07 semi-final.

But the AC Milan versus Manchester United match was not the most intense and dramatic of them all, contrary to the expectations, as it was the match between Dinamo Zagreb and

Tottenham

that gave us a shock of a game. Zagreb created history as they unbelievably managed to complete a dramatic comeback against Jose Mourinho’s side and go through to the UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final, winning the game 3-2 on aggregate.

Europa League 2021 quarter final draw

The results mentioned above have led us to the next round of knockout stage in the Europa League. In this round of games Arsenal will be going head to head against Slavia Praha, Granada will be facing Manchester United, Ajax and Roma will compete for a place in the semi-finals and Dinamo Zagreb will have to face a strong Villarreal.

UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final first leg

With the draws for the Last Eight of the competition already been decided, the first leg of the round of will begin today as Arsenal host Slavia Praha and Granada await Manchester United’s arrival, while Roma go off to the Johan Cruyff Arena and Villarreal pay a visit to Dinamo Zagreb. Let us see how the teams have prepared and how they might fare in the competition this season.

Of course the previous round and in fact all the other knockout stages in previous years have shown that predictions are never 100% accurate as history is always dramatically made in these European evenings.

Arsenal v Slavia Praha

  • Date: Thursday, 8 April

  • Time: 21:00 CET

UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final is packed with action as we are awaiting for the new round of the competition this evening.

Arsenal

have not been on much of a fine form lately as they lost 3-0 to

Liverpool

on Saturday. Even though they did manage to complete a comeback against West Ham and end the match with a 3-3 draw, two of their goals were own goals and the Gunners only scored one of the three to complete the comeback.

They currently sit 10th in the Premier League and are surely looking to find a way to cool off from their loss to the Reds of Mersyside. Mikel Arteta’s side might need a bit of a kick to start off their engine and could face a strong Slavia Praha side who are in good hearts after qualifying for the

Europa League 2021 quarter final draw

by beating a strong Rangers team.

Even though the Czech First League is definitely not on the same level as the English Premier League in any way, shape or form, Slavia Praha have still managed to show their strength by being first in their respective league with a massive 14-point lead at the top. Despite their 0-0 draw against Brno last weekend, the Czech club look ready for the showdown and could obviously benefit from at least scoring a vital away goal against Arsenal.

The

UEL 2020-21 quarter final line ups

for this match are not announced yet, but one thing is for sure. Mikel Arteta will surely rely on his new Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard, who has earned the respect and attention of the Arsenal manager and the club’s board of directors and might even make his move permanent next season.

On the other side of the pitch, Slavia Praha will not be able to deploy their 34-year-old star center-back Ondrej Kudela, as the Czech defender is set to miss the game due to an alleged racial abuse aimed at Rangers star Glen Kamara. Kamara claimed that Kudela racially abused him during the between the two teams and UEFA has provisionally suspended the Slavia Prague man for one match for violating their rules and regulations regarding the matter of insulting anyone present at the match.

Granada v Manchester United

  • Date: Thursday, 8 April

  • Time: 21:00 CET

Next on our list of UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final matches, we have

Granada

versus Manchester United, which will definitely be fun to watch. If it weren’t for Pep Guardiola’s phenomenal Manchester City, United might have had the chance to win the Premier League this season after so many years, having last won the trophy with the all-time great Sir Alex Ferguson.

The English club have been on a fine form in the Premier League recently and are second in the league behind their fierce rivals Manchester City. Of course they were not on such a good form in the FA Cup, as they lost 3-1 to Leicester City, who cruised passed the Red devils thanks to goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Youri Tielemans. In one of the more exciting

2020/21 UEL quarter final matches

, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be visiting Granada after a 2-1 win against Brighton last weekend.

Manchester United were lucky not to lose their star player Bruno Fernandes in the match against Brighton, as the Portuguese attacking midfielder claimed that Brighton star Veltman almost broke his foot with a horrific tackle after Fernandes assisted Marcus Rashford’s equalizer against the Seagulls. The talisman, who has been absolutely phenomenal for the Red Devils since joining them in the 2020 January transfer window, claimed that he missed Rashford’s goal as he couldn’t see anything after the tackle.

While United are preparing for their clash against Granada with good spirits and acceptable results, the Spanish side have been far away from fine lately, having lost three of their last five matches across all competitions. They might need to up their game if they want to stand a chance against United in the UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final. Even though the chances for the Spaniards are slim in this round of European football, nothing is written in stone and we might get to witness another dramatic win by the underdogs.

Ajax v Roma

  • Date: Thursday, 8 April

  • Time: 21:00 CET

Perhaps the most intense match of them all in the first leg of the

2020-21 Europa League quarter final fixtures

is going to be the clash between Eredivisie giants

Ajax

and Serie A side Roma, since both sides are well equipped to bring us an enjoyable match this evening.

Even though Ajax have lost many of the young and bright stars to the powerhouses of Europe in recent seasons with Frankie de Jong moving to

Barcelona

, Donny van de Beek joining Manchester United and Matthijs deLigt signing for Juventus, they are still a formidable side in both the Netherlands and in Europe. They have managed to win all of their last five games, with the most recent one being a 2-1 win against Heerenveen in Eredivisie.

They are currently top of their league with even a game in hand, as they are currently eleven points ahead of their trailers PSV, who are sitting second in the league with 58 points. While Ajax are flourishing both domestically and internationally, Roma have been going through a rough patch in Serie A, winning only two of their last five league games, while losing two matches and drawing the one game left.

Having strolled through to the UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final, both Roma and Ajax will be expecting to qualify for the next round as well, going into tonight’s match with good hearts. Of course Roma will have the chance to weaken their opponents’ beliefs by scoring an early goal or two and getting a crucial lead in the first leg of the quarterfinals.

Dinamo Zagreb v Villarreal

  • Date: Thursday, 8 April

  • Time: 21:00 CET

Dinamo Zagreb

might have made history with their emphatic win over Tottenham in the second leg of the Round of 16. But their dramatic run in the Europa League might come to an end against Villarreal as the Spanish team have been in fine form recently. Of course the Croatian side are currently sitting first in their respective league and have won four of their last five league games so far.

This impressive run of form could easily boost their spirits, especially with the win they got against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham side who were humiliatingly knocked out of the UEL in the Round of 16.

On the other side of the pitch will be the visiting side Villarreal, who are currently sitting sixth in La Liga behind Real Betis with fewer wins. The Spanish side are just where they are known to be in on the league table. Unai Emery’s side will be in good spirits going into the game, expecting to emerge victorious in both legs. Of course anything is possible in these European nights and Dinamo Zagreb could pull another dramatic win and go through to the next round by beating Villarreal.

As for the UEL 2020-21 quarter final line ups, no solid news are announced as of right now, but the Spanish side could form up against Dinamo as they did against Dynamo Kyiv with their two strikers Carlos Bacca and Gerrard Moreno in front with four midfielders and four defenders backing them up from behind. If you too are looking for the

UEFA Europa League 2020/21 quarter final live streams

, you can catch the games using various streaming services and via several TV channels.

You can catch the match between Dinamo Zagreb and Villarreal on beIN Sports Xtra, DAZN, Flow Sports, Paramount+ for American viewers and BTSport ESPN for those in the UK. We will certainly update you on any news about the UEFA Europa League 2020/21 quarter final live streams and keep you posted if any new services are added to the list of service providers.

UEFA Europa League 2021 quarter final second leg

The first leg of the 2020-21 Europa League quarter final fixtures was not only worth watching, but also a must-watch round in the competition, as we got to see some of the teams brilliantly performing against their rivals. While we did have some usual stuff going on in one of the matches and the better side was quite dominant, we also had unbelievable matches where the underdogs surprised everyone by showing that they too have a chance of progressing to the semi-finals of the European competition.

The first leg of the 2020/21 UEL quarter final matches went by in a flash and we are already waiting for the second leg to start tonight. Some of the games were fairly routine as Manchester United beat Granada 2-0 away from home and Villarreal scored a crucial away goal to snatch a victory against Dinamo Zagreb.

But while these two clashes were somehow expected beforehand, the game between Ajax and Roma did manage to surprise use as both teams played an excellent match, at the end of which Roma managed to emerge victorious, beating the Eredivisie side 2-1 in the Netherlands. Of course none of the games mentioned above could even reach the same heights as the match between Arsenal and the way weaker side Slavia Praha. It is worth mentioning that Ajax versus Roma was indeed thrilling, but it was certainly not as dramatic as the game between the Gunners and the Czech side.

We got to witness one of the most dramatic matches in the Europa League as the underdogs managed to show us the magic of teamwork and football by scoring a goal to equalize the game and make it 1-1 at the literal dying moments of the game at the 90+3rd minute.

Perhaps many of you might remember the Czech club from the time its officials burst into laughter after being drawn into the Champions League’s group of death in the 2019/20 season, where they faced Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan. But now you might get to remember them by the dramatic win over Arsenal in the return leg. Let us have a look at the UEL 2020-21 quarter final line ups and see how teams have prepared for the second leg.

Slavia Praha v Arsenal

  • Date: Thursday, 15 April

  • Time: 21:00 CET

  • Aggregate: 1-1

History is about to be made tonight, as

Slavia Praha

host Arsenal for the second leg of the European competition. The Czech side are certainly excited as they might have the chance to qualify for the next round and reach a European semi-final for the first time since the 1995-96 season, when they qualified for the Champions League semifinals only to lose against Bordeaux.

Of course Arsenal are still Arsenal and have the power to overcome their rivals and go through to the next round with ease. But the fans of the Gunners will surely be disappointed by how low their team have sunk, playing in the second tier of European football instead of challenging for the Champions League itself. Arsenal players will be hoping that they could at least make it to the final and lost the supporters’ trust with a botched performance against the underdogs.

Arsenal will certainly have a tough time against Slavia Prague, as the Czech side have been quite unbeatable in their last nine games, winning six and drawing the other three. This is so while Arsenal have been unable to get a clean sheet in their last seven games in a European competition, which is obviously a fine motivator for Slavia Praha’s strikers.

Mikel Arteta will definitely depend on Martin Odegaard and Nicolas Pepe for the second leg of the competition, as the former is considered to be the only player trying for the club and the latter is only the second player in the Europa League to be directly involved in seven or more goals this season. The UEFA Europa League 2020/21 quarter final live streams are pretty standard and you can catch the game on TUDN, Blue Sport, beIN Sports Connect and DAZN.

There are also some good news for Arsenal fans and especially Mikel Arteta, as the club have just received a double injury boost prior to the showdown in the Europa League. According to the latest news, Martinelli is deemed fit to be deployed and Saka is believed to be fit enough to make it in time for the game. Of course the official lineups are not yet announced so we are unsure how the Gunners will form up against their fierce rivals.

Villarreal v Dinamo Zagreb

  • Date: Thursday, 15 April

  • Time: 21:00 CET

  • Aggregate: 1-0

The first leg of the match between

Dinamo Zagreb

and Villarreal was surely intense enough for everyone. But both teams lacked the accuracy needed for and in fact expected of two professional teams playing in the top-tiers of European leagues. Dinamo Zagreb’s squad had eleven attempts in total, as only four of which made it to the target. On the other hand, quite similarly, Villarreal had fourteen shots as only three of which were on target. Clearly both sides need a shooting practice or else we might be going into a bore-fest of a match in the return leg.

Unai Emery’s side managed to win the away match against Dinamo Zagreb thanks to a penalty conversion by Gerard Moreno in the 44th minute. The Spanish side are surely motivated to fight for their progression into the semifinals after winning a tough first leg against the Croatian side. But Dinamo Zagreb will also be doubly motivated to complete a comeback in the second, so everything is still on the table and anything can happen.

The Croatian side actually did come pretty close to scoring a goal early on in the first leg, but luck was not with them and they were destined for a 1-0 defeat at home, from which they will now have to come back. Villarreal are currently unbeaten in the competition, winning ten of their games and drawing one to continue their impressive run.

Unfortunately for Dinamo Zagreb fans, the club’s captain Adrijan Ademi has recently suffered a foot injury, becoming the third player in the club’s roster to be unavailable for the return leg in Spain. This will definitely add to the problems that Dinamo are already facing, but Dinamo defender Rasmus Lauritsen believes that they still do have a full 90 minutes left to play in Spain and that they are more than capable of completing a comeback. Because that is football and they did in fact get to do the very same thing against Tottenham a while back.

Manchester United v Granada

  • Date: Thursday, 15 April

  • Time: 21:00 CET

  • Aggregate: 2-0

Manchester United

are surely buzzing right now as they are currently at the best of their form both in the league and the European competition. Having won four of the last five league games, the Red Devils managed to beat their former manager Jose Mourinho’s team with a dominant scoreline. Ole Gunnar Solskajer beat tottenham 3-1 to boost his team’s morale and also spark so much controversy with the help of the Special One.

Mourinho was furious over the Norwegian manager’s comments on Heung-Min Son and his behavior on the pitch, which led to him criticizing Solskjaer’s claim on not giving Son any food if he were his own son. But we digress. We are here to talk about the Europa League and about the Europa League we shall talk. United managed to beat Granada in a fairly routine manner in the away leg, which has certainly given the Premier League side the advantage over a relatively weaker side.

Of course as we have seen in the previous rounds of the competition, anything is possible and Granada could manage to complete a dramatic comeback to equalize the game and go through after the extra times and even the penalties. They might even manage to pull of the same epic win that Dinamo Zagreb managed against Tottenham as the Croatian side beat Mourinho’s team 3-2 with an absolutely brilliant comeback.

Granada might actually be hopeful of a comeback of sorts if the odds have anything to say aout it. Manchester United have in fact gone three games without a win at home in the European competition, losing one and drawing the other two. But aside from all seriousness, will we have another streaker in the game between the two sides just like the first leg?

Roma v Ajax

  • Date: Thursday, 15 April

  • Time: 21:00 CET

  • Aggregate: 2-1

Perhaps many are betting that

Roma

versus Ajax is going to be the most intense game of them all. The Italian side managed to snatch an early and crucial away victory against Ajax to make it 2-1 on aggregate going into the second leg of the quarterfinals. Ajax will have to be at their very best if they are to have any chance of equalizing and even outscoring the opposition to go through to the semifinals.

Of course they did have significantly better stats in the first leg against Roma. They had more than double the shots, with even more than double the number of shots on target, yet it was Roma who scored double the goals against Ajax. Hoping you excuse our poor repetitive rhyming, we can see that the Eredivisie side had a much better passing accuracy and had almost complete possession of the ball in the first leg, obviously playing with a much higher intensity.

Ajax will certainly need a bit of luck to complete a comeback as everything is still up for grabs for both sides in the return leg. Will Roma’s Fonseca stick to the 3-4-2-1 formation against Ajax? Or will he park the bus even deeper to hold off the opposition for the full 90 minutes to go through with the same scoreline? We are all eagerly waiting to see how things pan out for all the sides playing in the Europa League quarterfinals. Whom will you be supporting tonight?
