Dumfries discusses Inter's annoying form and their desire to improve

Denzel Dumfries shared his thoughts with the media regarding Inter's sluggish start to the season as well as the members of the team's tireless efforts.

After seven games in Serie A, the Nerazzurri have a record of 4 wins and 3 loses, good enough for 7th place overall and 12 points. The team's

Champions League

performance has been as erratic as their appearances, with a loss to

Bayern Munich

and a win over

Viktoria Plzen

.

Dumfries initially addressed

Inter

's slow start to the season and the inconvenient timing of the international break in an interview with De Telegraaf.

“The situation at Inter is annoying, and we want to change things as soon as possible. So, in this respect, the international break has been an annoyance. But maybe it can be useful to clear one’s head again.”

Dumfries then praised the diligent efforts of the Nerazzurri players, saying that he leads by example.

“We have many experienced guys in the squad, who do everything to get the most out of themselves and their careers. I try to learn from that every day. But my eyes were really opened during a day off last season.

“I had to report a minor injury to the club for treatment. I went to the weight room and saw thirteen players training on their own. If I had not been injured, I would never have known that so many teammates sacrificed their days off to improve and get fitter.  But then I told myself that this is how it works, that you always have to work on your body. And I’ve been doing that ever since.”

Dumfries, then 26 years old, was transferred to Inter from PSV in a move estimated to be worth €13.7m last August. The Dutch right defender has contributed seven goals and eight assists in 54 games since joining the team.
