Newcastle rejects Everton's offer for Longstaff
Everton are trying to sign the 24-year-old Newcastle midfielder in the winter.
The 24-year-old midfielder has failed to impress after Eddie Howe replaced Steve Bruce at St James' Park and has made just three appearances in eight games under the new manager. His contract expires at the end of the season and sources have reported that he has reached an agreement with Everton boss Rafa Benitez to reunion with him again.
However, Newcastle do not intend to sell him and currently intend to keep him, and therefore, Everton's first offer to hire him in the current transfer window has been rejected. However, after the Saudi investment fund bought Newcastle's shares, a significant funding was provided to the club, and in the first step, they bought Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid for 20 million euros and signed a three-and-a-half year contract with him.
Bigger changes are expected in Newcastle, but it is not yet clear why the club opposes Longstaff's departure.
