‘Inter are much stronger than Roma’, admits Jose Mourinho

Roma boss Jose Mourinho admits Inter were much stronger than his side in both normal and non-normal conditions after the 3-0 defeat marked his second home defeat at the Olimpico.

AS Roma

suffered their second home defeat of the season after they collapsed to a 3-0 defeat to

Jose Mourinho

's former club

Inter

on Saturday, as the champions climbed to second in Serie A table.

Hakan Calhanoglu

scored the opener directly from a corner after 15 minutes, and

Edin Dzeko

doubled the advantage nine minutes later against the side he left in summer.

Six minutes before halftime,

Denzel Dumfries

nodded home a merited third goal for the Milanese club as Inter cruised to their fourth consecutive league victory.

Mourinho

refused to answer questions from the

DAZN studio

or pundits, instead, he delivered a monologue to the camera.

“I apologize to the studio, to the people at home who might be interested in their questions,”

said

Mourinho

.

“Inter are stronger than us in normal conditions. In non-normal conditions, they are much stronger than us. Last season, they were 29 points ahead of Roma. Today, with injuries and suspended players, it was very, very difficult.”

Tammy Abraham

and

Rick Karsdorp

were suspended,

Stephan El Shaarawy

,

Lorenzo Pellegrini

, and

Leonardo Spinazzola

were injured, and

Felix Afena-Gyan

was diagnosed with COVID-19.

“Our attacking potential was practically nil. It was very important to score a goal, because we would only have two or three chances. We had three and didn’t score.

“When you play with a defense that has Ibanez and various others in positions that are not their usual ones, you still cannot concede the first and third goals. You just can’t.”

Gianluca Mancini

and

Nicolò Zaniolo

were booked this evening and will therefore miss their game against

Spezia

.

“The referee did well, he didn’t influence the result at all, he just should’ve booked Cristante too. We are the most undisciplined side in Serie A, we’ve got more cards than anyone,”

added the coach

.

“Congratulations to Inter, obviously I wish them good luck for Tuesday.”
