Inzaghi backs much-changed Inter defense to deliver against Spezia

Wed 01 December 2021 | 20:52

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi admits the team’s state of emergency before their Serie A clash with Spezia but trusts his much-changed defense to deliver.

The Nerazzurri are aiming to overtake city rivals

AC Milan

in the Serie A standings when they face

Spezia

at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday night.

Inter

head coach

Simone Inzaghi

has had to deal with a few injury problems this season. By far the biggest of them is the absence of

Stefan de Vrij

, but after the weekend’s action, it appears Inter have also lost both

Andrea Ranocchia

and

Matteo Darmian

. It could be a major blow for Inzaghi, who is short of options, especially in central defense.

“I am fortunate enough to have a squad of great professionals at my disposal,”

Inzaghi

told

DAZN

just before kick-off at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

.

“It is an emergency situation tonight, especially in defense, but I have no doubts that those who will step in have trained well and are ready.

“Bastoni had gastroenteritis overnight and unfortunately he is not available. We are also missing others in defense, so it’s a bit of an emergency situation, but it’s not going to be a problem.”

Inter are seeking a third consecutive Serie A victory to continue the defense of their Serie A title.
