Neymar out of action for six weeks after horror ankle injury

The PSG star had to leave the pitch on a stretcher during his side’s victory over Saint-Etienne.

PSG came back from behind to defeat

Saint-Etienne

with a 3-1 result on Sunday. However, their victory was overshadowed by the severe injury of Neymar.

Following an awkward landing, the Brazilian star screamed in pain and was forced off on a stretcher.

After the game, PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted his uncertainty over Neymar’s injury.

“Of course we are worried, but we hope that it is nothing too serious and that he can come back to help the team as soon as possible,”

he said.

, Neymar has suffered a serious sprain to his left ankle. The injury will reportedly keep the 29-year-old out of action for up to six weeks.

The French giants are yet to provide an injury update on Neymar as the Brazil international undergoes further scans on Monday. 

PSG will travel to Qatar for a mid-season training camp on January 16. Neymar is expected to make his comeback shortly after the trip.
