South Korea

were having their first national team football in two years without the coronavirus restrictions and they dominated the game against the

United Arab Emirates

(UAE) at Goyang Stadium in Goyang. They performed impressively and did everything but find the target after

Hwang Hee-chan

’s 36th-minute penalty.

Son Heung-min met the woodwork twice and Cho Gue-sung hit the post once, with 30,152 fans present at the stadium.

South Korea earned 11 points after five games in Group A and they won three of them and drew two, with the first two teams making their way to World Cup 2022. South Korea have always played in World Cup since 1986.

Cho Gue-sung had a few chances to find the target in the 13th minute but failed to meet the back of the net.

Hwang broke the lock with his penalty, which was gifted for Ali Salmeen’s foul, and helped his side take the lead in the first half.

Goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu has pulled off an impressive save in the 61st minute as Tahnoon Al-Zaabi was aiming to score.

Notwithstanding the close calls, South Korea came out as winners.
