Comparison between Xavi and me is wrong - Guardiola

Xavi follows a similar path to Guardiola to reach the Barca bench, so many comparisons are made between the two.

Manchester City

boss Pep Guardiola believes Xavi should not be compared to him and that the former

Barca

captain does not need to be his successor.

Following the dismissal of Ronald Koeman, Xavi was introduced as the new head coach of Barcelona yesterday. The former Barca star gained his first coaching experience at Al-Sadd in Qatar and is now on a big and difficult mission. Xavi's path is similar to Guardiola's and therefore many compare him to the former successful Barcelona coach, but from Pep's point of view, this comparison is wrong.

"I wasn't the heir to anybody and Xavi doesn't have to be my heir. If Joan Laporta has chosen Xavi then it's because there are millions of pros and few cons,"

Pep said.

"He knows the club and will bring positive energy, given how he enjoys football and because of his dedication. He always sees the positive side of things."

"With his class, dedication and effort, I'm sure he'll improve the club's situation."

During his four years on the Barcelona bench, Guardiola won 14 trophies with the team, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League titles. After Barca, he went to Bayern Munich and Manchester City and achieved many achievements with these teams.
