Nagelsmann remains in self-isolation ahead of Gladbach game

The German manager will not be able to lead his side to their next DFB Pokal game.

Julian Nagelsmann has been absent in Bayern Munich’s last two games due to being infected with COVID-19. The German manager confirmed on Tuesday that he will not lead his side to their next DFB Pokal game against Borussia Monchengladbach.

"Thank you, I'm alright. Everything is fine. Sadly I've not traveled to Gladbach as I'm still self-isolating,"

said Nagelsmann in a pre-match video conference.

"I did another test yesterday and unfortunately I'm not able to leave here yet."

Bayern will continue to be coached by Nagelsmann’s assistant Dino Toppmoller until the German boss is able to provide negative COVID-19 tests.

In their previous two matches under Toppmoller, Bayern defeated Benfica and Hoffenheim with 4-0 results. Having defeated

Bremer SV

with a 12-0 result in the first round of the DFB Pokal, the Bavarians will face Gladbach in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday.

It remains to be seen whether Nagelsmann can sit on Bayern’s bench for their upcoming Bundesliga game against Union Berlin on Saturday.
