Fri 22 October 2021 | 13:37

The Newcastle caretaker manager has been requested to guide the club’s first team for the next two clashes.

Graeme Jones

accepted

Newcastle

’s management duties after

Steve Bruce

’s leave following their 3-2 loss at the hands of

Tottenham

.

Jones will be in charge when the club gets ready to face Crystal Palace and Chelsea as they look for a new manager.

Jones said:

"I spoke to the owners on Wednesday morning and they have asked me to take the team on an interim basis for the next two games, so Crystal Palace and Chelsea at home.

"As I've said previously, I am fully focussed on preparing the team the best we can to be competitive in those two games."

Newcastle’s new owners spoke with Paulo Fonseca, ex-Roma boss, on Wednesday but they haven’t yet continued the discussions and apparently, there is no offer for the former Giallorossi manager.
