"We had a discussion" Pavard reacts to Pogba’s on-field rant

The Bayern Munich defender seemed angry when Pogba shouted at him during the Nations League final.

Paul Pogba lost his temper when he came all the way to his side’s backline to help out with the defense during France’s match against Italy in the Nations League final last week. While trying to hold on to the ball inside his team’s box, Pogba expressed his frustration by shouting at Benjamin Pavard for his lack of support.

Pogba offered an apology to the Bayern star after the game, which is accepted by his Les Bleus teammate.

“I watched the action several times and we talked about it with Paul afterwards. He apologised to me for reacting like that.”

Pavard told Canal Football Club.

“When I watch the action, okay, I'm not moving well enough, but I'm not stationary either. There could have been more movement, but the same is true for other players, everyone stopped.

“We had a discussion. I absolutely don't blame him. We talked about it after the game. Everything is fine.”

Pavard has been criticized for his unstable performances at the right-back position recently, but the 25-year-old is confident enough to place himself ahead of some of the best players in the position.

“Great coaches put me at right-back because they have confidence in my abilities. It is not because of my beautiful eyes or my hair.

“On paper, Pavard is perhaps less sexy than Hakimi or Alexander-Arnold, but I think that defensively I am more complete.”

Pavard has featured in only two Bundesliga matches for Bayern this season. The Frenchman was replaced by Niklas Sule in the Bavarians’ lineup for their 5-1 victory against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. It remains to be seen whether Julian Nagelsmann will use the French defender in his side’s Champions League game against Benfica on Wednesday.
