The Barcelona star sealed his full recovery from injury by scoring against Valencia.
Philippe Coutinho scored for Barcelona in their 3-1 victory against Valencia on Sunday. Since his move from Liverpool in 2018, the Brazil international’s fitness has been haunted by multiple injuries that have prevented him from reaching his best form.
The goal against Valencia marked Coutinho’s first goal since November 2020, with the former Liverpool star being sidelined with injury for most of the last season.
In a post-match interview withBarcaTV
, Coutinho spoke about his current form.
"We all know what I have suffered but I feel good.
“After so long, scoring a goal is a very good feeling. Besides, the team has won.
“I have more desire than ever after going through everything I went through. It has been difficult and hard. Now it's just a scar that makes me stronger. I want to succeed and be the best Philippe I can be.”
“I really wanted to score a goal. I have spent a few months away and I am happy with the work I have done.
“It is only the beginning. I am very happy for the victory, we deserved it.”
Coutinho is expected to be included in Barca’s lineup for their upcoming Champions League game against Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday. The Catalans will then prepare themselves to lock horns with Real Madrid on Sunday.
