is trying to change the international football calendar that would see the
staged every two years and European football governing body
, who has set out plans for Euro 2028, has strongly opposed the idea.
However, if FIFA decided to hold the international tournament every two years, the first of their biennial World Cups would be held in 2028.
On the other hand, UEFA is expecting the
finals to be held in seven years’ time as originally planned, with the bidding process being laid out on Tuesday.
The winning bid is going to be announced in September 2023 but any countries interested in hosting the tournament only can declare their interest until March 2022.
24 teams are going to feature in the competition and UEFA will welcome single or joint bids.
Germany also will host the 2024 competition after seeing off Turkey in the voting process.
