Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri has said he did not expect the derby to give him so much adrenaline rush and satisfaction at winning after their 3-2 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
Unlike Giallorossi, the Biancocelesti headed into the game in poor form after picking up two defeats and two draws in their four games between Serie A and the Europa League.
However, goals from
gave them a narrow win over Jose Mourinho's side on Sunday.
Felipe Anderson not only scored a goal, but also provided an assist.
“He should continue this level of performance, because he has what it takes. My worry is that he doesn’t realize his own strength, he plays in timid fashion, so I can only hope he gains that self-belief,”
This was Sarri's first Derby della Capitale and he had said ahead of the match that he felt more pressure in Serie C when he was in charge at Sangiovannese.
“I will admit, it was emotionally one of the most exhilarating matches of my career. I didn’t expect the derby to give you this adrenaline rush and satisfaction at winning.”
Sarri also talked about his time at Juventus, where he won the Scudetto, but his tenure was still considered a failure.
“Changing three or four players at Juventus is only achievable at an inaccessible cost. We had to adapt some of the players to suit my game, and reached a compromise that allowed us to win. I can do my work here at Lazio.”
