Inter could’ve had more against Atalanta - Inzaghi

The Inter manager believes his side ‘deserved more’ from their draw with Atalanta and reveals the decision-maker for Federico Dimarco taking the penalty.

Inter

’s battle against

Atalanta

was chaotic, as

Lautaro Martine

z scored the opener early doors but

Ruslan Malinovskyi

pulled the game level and Atalanta took the lead through Rafael Toloi’s goal.

However, Inter’s

Edin Dzeko

leveled the game.

People without doubt were entertained, but we feel a bitter taste from this draw, as we feel that we could’ve had more. We fell apart a little after the missed penalty, but saw an excellent Inter in much of the first half and the second too against a very strong Atalanta,”

the coach told

DAZN

.

“It’s a pleasure for a coach to see players come off the bench with that attitude and making the difference. The second half was a very good level. We did very well in the opening 25 minutes, then Atalanta were stronger for the rest of the half.

“The regrets are about the second half, as Juan Musso made a couple of great saves and we also had the penalty, so feel we deserved something more.”

Seeing Dimarco taking the penalty at 2-2 was surprising, which was fired onto the crossbar, when other options were available.

“The decision was mine. This morning Calhanoglu and Lautaro tried penalties, but they had come off. We had Dimarco and Ivan Perisic, Dimarco seemed sharper. It’s a pity, as he’s been so good this season and deserved to get a winner in front of the Inter fans.

“I am proud, because we saw two teams who gave their all looking for the victory.”

Nicolo Barella

has contributed five assists in six Serie A clashes for the league champions this season.

“He’s been playing at this level for a couple of years. He’s a Champion of Italy, Champion of Europe, a modern and complete midfielder who did not surprise me at all.”
