Falcao reveals the reason behind taking number three at Rayo

The ex-Chelsea striker’s number at Rayo Vallecano following his move is bizarre but there seems to be a good reason behind it.

Radamel Falcao

made a move to

Rayo Vallecano

in the summer transfer window when he hit free agency following his contract cancelation with

Galatasaray

.

When he arrived at Rayo, the club have introduced him to fans on Thursday, hoping he will have his debut in the battle against Getafe today.

Falcao decided to take the number three, which is a number mostly used for defenders rather than forwards. However, his decision has a reason behind it, which is said to be a toughing one.

He chose that number due to his father, who passed away two years ago.

The Colombian said at his presentation:

“I want to thank Fran García, number 3 was available.

“For my father it had a lot of meaning, he transmitted to me the passion for this sport, he played with that number, it is the one he liked the most and what better than to play with number 3.”

After two years of featuring for Galatasaray, where he met the back of the net 19 times in 34 matches, he linked up with Rayo.

Although he is 35 years old, he has established himself a useful asset, and Rayo have started on the right foot following their first season back in La Liga, earning four points during their first four clashes.
