Norwich’s Sargent sustains hamstring injury but it’s not serious

The Norwich boss is staying hopeful when it comes to Josh Sargent’s injury as it is not too serious.

Daniel Farke

revealed that

Josh Sargent

sustained a hamstring injury but he is optimistic regarding his return.

The 21-year-old has sustained the injury on international duty and he did not feature for

Norwich

during their 1-0 loss at the hands of Arsenal.

However, the Canaries head coach revealed that the USMNT star’s injury is not serious and he will return to action soon.

He played for his side in the USMNT’s World Cup qualifying clashes and

Gregg Berhalter

’s squad prepare to go against Canada.

Farke said that Sargent’s injury was found when he reported back Norwich’s training ground.

He plays in the early hours of Thursday, then arrives after an 11-hour flight from Honduras back to London, so he has jet lag and not much sleep,”

said Farke.

“I would have taken him in the squad but we scanned him on Friday and there was a low-grade muscle tear in his hamstring.

"Hopefully for the next game he will be available, because he is already a key player for us and important for the group.

"We hope the injury settles in the next few days and then he can train.”

Sargent has to deal with the injury during a hard time as he aimed to prove himself at Norwich, having joined on a €10 million (£9m/$12m) deal from Werder Bremen.

Before the international break, Sargent featured for his side in all their games, meeting the back of the net twice during his start in the Carabao Cup battle against Bournemouth, which was Canaries’ only win this season. They lost their four games in the Premier League, finding the target only once. However, they have taken on teams that were among last season’s top six so far, including the 2020-21 Premier League champions

Manchester City

.

They will face

Watford

at Carrow Road on Saturday.
