Japan will no longer host the 2021 Club World

Despite hosting the 2020 Olympics, Japan was forced to cancel its hosting of the 2021 Club World Cup due to problems with Covid 19.

After hosting the 2020 Olympics, Japan was scheduled to host the Club World Cup but decided to relinquish its hosting after talks with FIFA.

The Japan Football Association (JFA) was preparing for the tournament for the first time in five years, but due to coronavirus issues, it was unclear whether the tournament was financially justifiable.

The JFA chief executive Kiyotaka Suhara explained "

we had to make a decision at this time

".

FIFA has not yet commented on the new location and date of the Club World Cup.
