Real Madrid’s endeavors for signing Paris Saint-Germain's high-profile striker Kylian Mbappe failed this summer as the Ligue 1 side rejected all three offers of the Los Blancos.

Entering the final year of his contract with PSG,

Real Madrid will be reportedly eying

a free transfer for the next summer as the parties can sign an agreement in January.

Real Madrid striker and Mbappe’s fellow Frenchman, Karim Benzema, believes it’s just a matter of time for the 22-year-old to join the Los Blancos.

“He is a footballer who one day or another will play for Real Madrid,”

Benzema told

“We get along very well and I would like him to be with me already in Madrid. But he also has to respect his club.

“I don’t know what will happen, but Mbappe would be welcome at Real Madrid.

“He is a player who has all the qualities to be a Madrid player in the future, and I hope he will be.”

With Antoine Griezmann on target for Les Bleus, Mbappe and Benzema started in

France’s 1-1 2022 World Cup qualifier draw

at home to Bosnia & Herzegovina on Wednesday.

Sitting at top of the table of Group D of Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying round,

France will next face Ukraine on Saturday
