ُScott McTominay will undergo surgery on his groin
The Scottish star will not be able to accompany the Red Devils for a while.
defender Scott McTominay has undergone surgery due to a groin injury.
McTominay was in the squad for Manchester United's first two Premier League games and came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Southampton in the second half. He will also be a big absentee from Scotland for the 2020 World Cup qualifiers in September.
"Scott has undergone surgery for an ongoing groin injury that was causing significant pain when playing,"
read a club statement.
"Having tried all other treatment options in pre-season, surgery was deemed necessary to resolve the issue.
"We hope to have him back soon."
McTominay played 49 games for Manchester United last season, and now on his Instagram, he called groin surgery a minor operation. It is not yet clear when he will recover and return to the field.
