Leon Bailey, who just joined Aston Villa, has claimed that the eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt, who is a Manchester United fan, is now going to also support Aston Villa.

Leon Bailey

, who just moved to

Aston Villa

on a £30 million deal from Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday, has claimed that Manchester United fan

Usain Bolt

is going to support him in his Premier League endeavors.

The eight-time Olympic gold medallist, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time, has been a big fan of the Red Devils and used to attend games at Old Trafford regularly before the coronavirus pandemic. However, Bailey insists that his compatriot is going to also support Aston Villa.

“Anywhere I go he (Bolt) is going to be a fan so of course right now, he is a Villa fan,"

he told

"I don’t need to make him, he automatically becomes a fan of the club.

“I have known him for a long time. He is a good friend of mine and an inspiration. I am sure he will want to come and see Villa against Manchester United.”

During his four-year stay at Leverkusen, he was able to establish himself among the best wingers in the Bundesliga, recording 39 goals and 26 assists through 156 appearances and now Aston Villa fans are hoping that he could make such an impact in the Premier League.

“For me, it’s a great club with a big history and it’s the right step for me. I’m excited to get started,”

said Bailey.

"It’s always been somewhere that I’ve wanted to play. I feel like now is the right time and I’m excited about it.

“Hopefully I can do what I do best and have a great season in the Premier League.”

The former Leverkusen star might be able to make his debut for the club on Saturday when they are going to take on Sevilla in a friendly game, however, it only depends on how well he is able to settle into Aston Villa’s pre-season camp.

He will also be in contention to make his Premier League debut on August 14, when Aston Villa are going to open their latest season away at newly-promoted Watford.
