Gareth Bale plans to retire from club football next summer

Real Madrid striker Gareth Bale is planning to announce his retirement from club football at the end of the next season.

Bale’s future has been the subject of uncertainty for several months. His current deal at Santiago Bernabeu runs until the end of June 2022, but he was sent out on loan last summer.

The Wales international is now set to return to his parent club

Real Madrid

after a successful loan spell at his former club

Tottenham Hotspur

, during which he scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.

The 31-year-old barely had the chance to play under

Zinedine Zidane

, who has since left. But with the return of

Carlo Ancelotti

, the Wales international could have an important role next season.

With his contract set to expire in 2022, he has been linked with a move to MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, but according to

The Mirror

, the striker has told his friends that he is not planning to continue his football when he will be a free agent next summer.

However, he could still continue his football at the international level for Wales if they manage to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
