Sun 04 July 2021 | 14:27

The Brighton goalkeeper has decided to continue his career in Spain.

Mat Ryan

joined Arsenal on loan from

Brighton

in January. The Australian goalkeeper featured in three games for the north London club which reportedly convinced the Gunners to offer him a permanent deal. However, Ryan has decided to join

Real Sociedad

ahead of the next season.

According to

Sky Sports

, the 29-year-old goalkeeper has also rejected Celtic’s offer in recent weeks. The Hoops’ new boss Ange Postecoglou employed Ryan as Australia’s No 1 in their 2015 Asian Cup triumph. Ryan’s desire to get more game time has proven to be decisive in his ultimate transfer choice. The former Valencia goalkeeper is expected to secure his place in Sociedad’s starting lineup upon his return to La Liga.
