The Barcelona striker subbed on in the second half of the 2-2 tie with Hungary but was pulled off due to injury before the end of the game. With an injury sustained in the weekend's stalemate against Hungary, Ousmane Dembele has been forced to pull back from the Les Bleus team.

With France behind Hungary at the Puskas Arena, the 24-year-old came on as a second-half replacement, but he had to be substituted by Thomas Lemar in the 87th minute due to a knee problem.

The French camp have officially announced that, following hospital exams, he will return home and will not participate in

Euro 2020

Didier Deschamps

revealed that Dembele's knee tendon injury was the cause of his absence from Sunday's training session in Budapest.

He had radiological exams at Budapest Hospital on Sunday evening, according to a statement published by the French team on Monday morning, and his recovery period means he will miss the remainder of the competition.

"Dembele, it's a hit on the tendon, behind the knee, it will be necessary to check. He continued, he wanted to cross and felt a fairly significant discomfort. I brought him off and we will have to watch him." Deschamps said on Saturday after the game.

On Monday morning, a statement from France read:

"Discussions took place on Sunday between the medical staff of the French team and FC Barcelona.

"After speaking with the player and Dr. Franck Le Gall, Didier Deschamps took note of Ousmane Dembele's withdrawal."
