Barca keen on signing Villarreal's defensive starlet Pau Torres

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has turned their attention to Villarreal, and La Roja starlet Pau Torres as part of a well-publicized revamp of their playing roster.

's free transfer to Barcelona from Manchester City is all but reported, but the club still wants to add a left-footed center-back to play alongside him in the future, with Pau the top priority. 

Pau has been playing at a top-level in the past two seasons for his hometown team, Villarreal, and is a contender to debut for Spain at

Euro 2020

alongside skipper Sergio Ramos. Luis Enrique has expressed his support for the 24-year-old on several occasions.

Barca admires his ability to get the ball out from behind, as well as his courage and strength in taking on major challenges. His Villarreal deal lasts until 2024, and his escape option is €60 million, a sum Barcelona does not afford in this setting. However, in the summer transfer window, Blaugrana could be able to come up with inventive ways to close a contract.
