Reds supporters union hit out at owners about ESL plans
The Spirit of Shankly has called upon Liverpool owners to step aside from the Super League plans that had fans outraged.

Liverpoolsupporters’ union, Spirit of Shankly, has urged the owners to think about their positions at the club effective immediately.
Reds fans were shocked by the decision the club made to join the European Super League that can put the domestic, European and international competitions at risk.

Liverpool have not made any statements since Sunday and the players took their disagreement to social media via a campaign on Tuesday.

Spirit of Shankly stated:
“We note with anger that club owners FSG are still hanging on to this shattered nightmare of a European ‘Super’ League.
“We are calling on the FSG board to withdraw our club from this catastrophic idea and consider their positions with immediate effect. To coin a previous campaign of ours: not welcome here.”
The last statement refers to their protests against ex-Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, who were at the helm from 2007 to 2010, before FSG took over the ownership.
Jurgen Klopp
was shocked when Liverpool announced their participation on Sunday. The Reds manager and vice-captain James Milner were the only figures to speak about the matter on Monday and confirmed that they do not support it.
“
I’m here as a football coach and manager, and I will do that as long as people let me do that,”
he told reporters.
“I heard today that I will resign or whatever. If times get even tougher, that makes me even more sticky that I will stay here.
“I feel responsible for the team, responsible for the club and for the relationship we have with our fans. It’s a very tough time, but I will try to help to sort it somehow.”
