Stephen Glass wants to sign Allan Russell

Aberdeen new manager Stephen Glass wants Allan Russell as the final piece of his new coaching team.

Allan Russell

joined

England

in March 2017. He was able to gain a reputation as a specialist attacking coach and he was widely praised for being the mastermind behind England's success from set-pieces at the Russia World Cup in 2018 as they were able to score nine goals in the tournament from restarts which was more than any other team in the competition.

Aberdeen

 new manager

Stephen Glass

’ relationship with Russell goes back to when they played together at Carolina Railhawks in 2011.

Glass now wants Russell as the final piece of his new coaching team and it has been reported that England's attacking coach will only take the job if he can continue his role with England, according to

Sky Sports

.

It seems FA would not have a problem with it as England's senior goalkeeping coach, Martyn Margetson, currently shares his international duty with his full-time job at Swansea City.

Celtic captain

Scott Brown

, who is also a former teammate of Glass at Hibernian, has signed a pre-contract deal to join the club from the start of the next season as a player-coach.

Russell has played for Hamilton, St Mirren, Partick Thistle, Airdrie United, and Kilmarnock in Scottish football, and has also featured for Macclesfield Town, Mansfield Town, and Forest Green Rovers in the English lower leagues.

He then moved to the United States in 2010 with Carolina and finished his career as a player at Orange County Blues.
