The UAE’s Al Ain Crowned as the Champion of the Asian Champions League

Details of an Epic Final Match Amid Enthusiastic Fans and Exceptional Performance Crowning Al Ain for the Second Time in Its History

 

The UAE’s Al Ain club won the Asian Champions League title after an amazing performance in the second leg with a crushing score of 5-1 against its guest Yokohama Marinos of Japan, in the match that was held at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. After losing the first leg 1-2 in Japan, Al Ain team managed to compensate and win the title for the second time in its history, after winning it for the first time in 2003.

The final match, which was held at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, witnessed a huge audience, with the number of spectators exceeding 24,000 fans.

The first minutes of the match started with an exciting and enthusiastic spirit, with continuous pressure from Yokohama Marinos players, but Al Ain team managed to organize a quick attack in the eighth minute, where Yahya Nabil received the ball and passed it with his heel to Sofiane Rahimi who shot a powerful ground ball to score the first goal for his team.

Al Ain team controlled the midfield and put a lot of pressure on the Japanese team players, which forced them to make mistakes in passing. Despite player Mohamed Abbas shooting a powerful ball on the edge of the penalty area in the 16th minute, it hit the crossbar. In the 17th minute, Al Ain’s goalkeeper, Khalid Issa, made a mistake in dealing with the ball, which gave the Japanese players a chance to score, but the goalkeeper blocked Ken Matsubara’s shot and turned it into a corner.

After reviewing the video technology, Al Ain club was awarded a penalty in the 33rd minute, where Kako succeeded in scoring the second goal for his team. In the 40th minute, Yokohama Marinos managed to reduce the difference with a goal signed by Yan Matheus after a technical review.

In the injury time of the first half, the Japanese goalkeeper William Popp was sent off after obstructing Sofiane Rahimi outside the penalty area, and substitute goalkeeper Fuma Shirasaka participated instead of striker Elber Da Silva.

In the 58th minute, Al Ain team missed a chance to add a third goal when the crossbar blocked a wrong ball from a Yokohama defender. In the 67th minute, Sofiane Rahimi succeeded in adding two more goals for his team after a wonderful pass from a Yokohama defender and powerful shots at the goal.

A goal scored by Laba Kodjo was canceled due to offside in the 76th minute, but he succeeded in scoring another goal in the 90+2 minute after the Japanese team’s goalkeeper made a mistake in dealing with the ball.
