Eddie Howe: "We’ve shot ahead of schedule"

Newcastle qualified for the Champions League.

Newcastle

have qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.

Newcastle were able to qualify for the Champions League after a scoreless draw with Leicester City.

Last season, when Eddie Howe was appointed as The Magpies' head coach, they were threatened with the danger of relegation. However, this season, they were able to find their way into the Champions League.

“This wasn’t in our sights at that moment. We had escaped relegation impressively, from the position we were in.

“We were hopeful of improving and staying away from danger and growing the team to a position where maybe we could compete for Europe in a couple of seasons, so we’ve shot ahead of schedule.

Eddie Howe is the first Newcastle manager since Sir Bobby Robson to qualify for the Champions League.
