Arsenal target Caicedo signs long-term Brighton contract

Only weeks after begging the club to leave for Arsenal, Moises Caicedo has signed a long-term contract with Brighton.

In an amazing turn of events, Brighton midfielder

Moises Caicedo

has decided to extend his stay at the Amex stadium until June 2027.

The Ecuador international made a plea to Brighton on social media to sell him to Arsenal in the last days of the transfer window but Arsenal’s bids of up to £70million were rejected by the Seagulls. Caicedo was made to stay and it seems that behind the scenes a new deal was offered to him.

The 21-year old now has dedicated his future to the Seagulls until June 2027 with an option for an additional year.

A statement on the club's official website reads:

"Moises Caicedo has committed his long-term future to the Albion by agreeing a new contract that runs until 2027, with a club option for an extra year."

"This is fantastic news for the club, our fans, for me and most importantly for Moises. It will make us stronger as we move forward towards our targets on the pitch,"

head coach Roberto de Zerbi said.

Moises Caicedo joined Brighton in February 2021 from Independiente del Valle. The Ecuador international spent half a season on loan at Beerschot but has been a regular since his return to the
