"I'm really happy for Rashford", says Liverpool manager Klopp ahead of Man Utd clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he is happy Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has silenced his doubters this season.

Liverpool

will face their rivals

Manchester United

in the Premier League on Sunday.

Man United star

Marcus Rashford

, who was under pressure for his performances last season and his activities off the pitch, has returned to form this season and managed to score 25 goals.

Ahead of Sunday’s game at Anfield, Klopp praised Rashford and admitted that he is happy for him.

He said:

”It's pretty much impossible to be happy about something at Man Utd as Liverpool manager.

"But I'm really happy for Rashford because he had a very difficult last year where he was not performing on the level he is able to perform. I knew this would change again but sometimes in life there is not enough time to change it.

"But now he is playing incredibly. His speed, technique, the mix-up of everything, how calm he is in front of goal, he scores the simple ones, he scores worldies, he puts his head in, all those kinds of things.

"We've played before against world-class offensive players and if you try to do that in a one vs one situation then you will always be on the wrong end of it - we have to do that collectively.”

Manchester United is in third place in the table and Liverpool is in sixth place. Ten Hag’s side is ten points ahead of Liverpool after 24 matches and has lost just one of their 20 games since the World Cup.

In his press conference on Friday, Klopp admitted that United is having a better season than them.

"They have had a better season so far but thank God it means absolutely nothing on Sunday.

"We have to make sure we show it is still incredibly difficult to play against us. We have to make sure they realise that.

"I couldn't be less interested in what Man Utd are doing, I just respect it.”

Klopp also believes Manchester United is in the title race this season and can win the Premier League.

"They have turned into a results machine,"

Klopp said.

"They are squeezing results out with some really good performances.

"They're playing some top football, and if it is not going so well for them they still get results. That's why they are there [in the table].

"Everyone knows it: they are fully in a fight to win the league. That's not really important for Sunday because we are there as well when we try to be at our best.

"

Liverpool is six points behind the fourth-placed team Tottenham with a game in hand, and Klopp said victory against Manchester United can give them a proper push.

"I said before last game, this is a week to give the season a proper push. Now we have to make the next steps.

"Nothing is done yet which is good for us. We all know everything is possible in football. We need to use our crowd in home games.”

"It's what I enjoy most. Around these games we put ourselves out of this sometimes not so nice reality and dig into the game. Football is the most important thing for 94 minutes. The whole world will watch it."
