Maguire explains ten Hag’s approach to football
Man Utd defender Harry Maguire attempts to explain how Erik ten Hag’s new philosophy has changed the way United plays.
The often criticized Man Utd defender Harry Maguire has lauded
Red Devilsboss Erik ten Hag for the way he has changed the culture of the club.
“His ideas are different to a lot of what we’ve been used to, I must say. He was a defender as well,"
he told talkSPORT.
“This season, he has proven that it works and it has worked in the past as well. He has brought a philosophy and ideas on how he wants us to play.
“He’ll probably tell you that there is still a lot of improvement that we need to do. He’s so demanding in everything that he does and everything that he says. Whether it’s on the training pitch or whether you’re having a passing drill at the start and you miss a pass – he’s on you straight away and that’s the demands he sets. He wants high standards."
Ironically, one of the first changes that Erik ten Hag implemented at the club was to replace
Maguireas United’s first-choice center back.
United are the only team in England that are currently competing on all the four fronts, with them playing in the EFL Cup final next, facing Newcastle United. The Red Devils managed to knock out the mighty Barcelona out of the Europa League and will face Real Betis in the round of 16 next.
