Simone Inzaghi: "Can Inter win the Champions League? Yes.”
Inter defeated Udinese 3-1 in Serie A on Saturday ahead of the match against Porto in the Champions League last 16 round. The Italian coach believes his side can win the prestigious European trophy this year.
Currently sitting second in the Serie A table with 15 points behind Napoli, Inter will face Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday. Inzaghi made a few changes against Udinese, and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic also returned to the team for the first time since October. Speaking to
Amazon Prime, Simone Inzaghi said: “I
must consider many things, including the opponent, before choosing the line-up.
“The coach’s duty is to make decisions and I will always do it for Inter’s good.
“Lautaro continues to improve, he has incredible consistency and victories with Argentina gave him even more maturity. This is good for Inter.”
Asked whether Inter can aim to win the Champions League, the Italian added: “
A path is needed. Last season we played very well against the two eventual finalists [Liverpool and Real Madrid]. This season we faced Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Can we win the Champions League? Yes.”
